  • Publication number: 20160294601
Abstract: A waveform synthesis technique for radio frequency identification (RFID) transmitters and an RFID system making us of the technique are disclosed. The RFID transmitter in example embodiments synthesizes a continuous transmitter waveform from a symbol alphabet without Nyquist or interpolation filters. High spectral occupancy waveforms are achieved which include the ability to do both linear and nonlinear predistortion with no increase in computational load once the signal set has been adapted to compensate for linear and nonlinear distortion in the transmitter analog circuitry. A polarity generator can be used to impart the required polarity to each waveform. The RFID transmitter can be employed in RFID readers to reduce the computational requirements of the digital signal processor (DSP).

  • Publication number: 20160277705
Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media can capture media content including an original set of frames. A selection of a time-lapse amount can be received. A subset of frames from the original set of frames can be identified based on the time-lapse amount. An orientation-based image stabilization process can be applied to the subset of frames to produce a stabilized subset of frames. A stabilized time-lapse media content item can be provided based on the stabilized subset of frames.

  • Patent number: 9430924
Abstract: An AC-coupled RFID system is disclosed. Embodiments of the invention statistically correlate the transmit data from a baseband transmit signal and the receive data in a receive signal after the signal has passed through a baseband receive filter. By using a receive bandpass or high-pass filter at baseband, the receiver can be AC-coupled in the baseband. This AC coupling significantly reduces cost and complexity by eliminating high-power reflected signals at and near DC. The high-pass corner frequency of the receive filter passes enough of the receive signal to still be measurable. The correlation is used to estimate the reflected carrier, which in turn enables cancellation of the carrier, improving RFID reader sensitivity.

  • Publication number: 20160218373
Abstract: A plurality of batteries is printed on a flexible substrate, where each battery may output the same voltage, such as about 1.5 volts. Batteries in a first subset are connectable in parallel by controllable switches to control the maximum current that can be delivered to a load. Batteries in a second subset are also connectable in parallel by additional controllable switches to control the maximum current that can be delivered to the load. Another group of switches can either connect the two subsets of batteries in series, to generate 3 volts, or connect the subsets in parallel to increase the maximum current. Additional subsets of batteries and their associated switches may be further connected to increase the voltage and current. The power supply may be standardized and configured by the user for a particular load, such as a sensor for a medical skin patch.

  • Publication number: 20160147753
Abstract: An online system allows its users to posts content to the system and to see the content posted by other users of the system. The system helps users discover new content and sources thereof that may be interesting. For example, a first user expresses an interest in a content item and communicates that interest to the system. The system then identifies a second user who posted that liked content item and identifies content items in which the second user has communicated an interest. Based on this, the system selects one or more of the content items liked by the second user and provides the selected content items to the first user. The system may decline to send the content item to the first user if it was posted by a third user with whom the first user has already established a connection.
