  • Publication number: 20120215149
Abstract: A tissue dressing material for being applied in contact with a tissue of a patient. The tissue dressing material's main component is deacetylated native chitosan. Moreover, a liquid tissue dressing material for being applied in contact with a tissue of a patient, the tissue dressing material being an aqueous mixture. The main component of the constituent(s) of the mixture other than water is deacetylated native chitosan.

  • Publication number: 20120209320
Abstract: A kit comprising a tissue dressing material for being applied in contact with the tissue of a patient and a detachment solvent for removing the tissue dressing material from the tissue. A method of treating a tissue of a patient, the method comprising the steps of: applying a water-soluble tissue dressing material in contact with the patient's tissue; and applying an acidic detachment solvent to the tissue dressing material for removing the tissue dressing material from the tissue. A method of treating a tissue of a patient, the method comprising the steps of: applying a liquid tissue dressing material in contact with the patient's tissue; and applying a detachment solvent to the tissue dressing material for removing the tissue dressing material from the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20120203326
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a medical product comprising a hollow body (2), wherein at least part of a wall of the hollow body (2) is coated at least on the inside with a layer comprising a polymer; at least the part of at least the inside of the wall of the medical product is brought into contact with a mixture (6) of the polymer and the polymer is deposited from the mixture (6) on at least the part of the inside of the wall. And a medical product comprising a hollow body (2) with a wall consisting of one or more structural elements (16), at least a section of the wall being coated with a layer (15) comprising native chitosan, wherein both on the inside and the outside of the hollow body (2) at least some of the one or more structural elements (16) of the wall of the hollow body (2) are at least partly coated with the native chitosan layer (15). And a method for electrodepositing a polymer on an electrode from an acidic mixture of the polymer, wherein the mixture (6) comprises a multibasic acid.

  • Publication number: 20100129423
Abstract: A method of biodissolving in an aqueous medium at least a part of a device, the part of the device being made of N-acetylchitosan with a degree of acetylation of more than 3% and less than 25%. In the method, the biodissolution of the part of the device is controlled by adjusting the pH of the aqueous medium in contact with the N-acetylchitosan part of the device to a value of equal or less than 6.0.

  • Publication number: 20080254125
Abstract: An article containing N-acylchitosan is manufactured by a process comprising the steps of providing a mixture containing chitosan and/or N-acylchitosan, and extruding the mixture to form an N-acylchitosan hydrogel. Alternatively, the process comprising the steps of providing a chitosan and/or N-acylchitosan hydrogel, and extruding the hydrogel. An article with a memorized shape is formed by fixing the N-acylchitosan hydrogel in a desired shape, and at least partially drying the fixed hydrogel. A patient is treated by injecting the N-acylchitosan hydrogel.

  • Publication number: 20040022826
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to provide transplants and a method for the production thereof, modelled on the natural product to such an extent that the above are well incorporated, do not lead to the possibility of rejection reactions, may thus be retained long-term, are considered as bodily material by the host and are replaced by the natural process of cell exchange such that the transplant may grow in the body of the recipient. The stability and the bio-compatibility of the transplant is increased by means of a coating method. According to the invention, said bioartificial composite material for tissue or organ replacement comprises an allogenic, xenogenic or autologous connective tissue matrix and/or a matrix of synthetic material, coated with polymers. Said material is applicable for heart valves, skin, vessels, aortas, tendons, corneas, cartilages, bones, tracheas, nerves, meniscuses, intervertebral discs, ureters, urethras and bladders.
