  • Patent number: 7370486
Abstract: An air-treatment system includes a cooling circuit, a first heat exchanger in thermal communication with the cooling circuit, and a secondary circuit in thermal communication with the first heat exchanger. The air-treatment system also includes a controller in communication with at least one of the cooling circuit, the first heat exchanger, and the secondary circuit. The controller is operable to receive at least one input indicative of a desired ambient condition, operable to receive at least one input indicative of current ambient conditions, operable to receive at least one input indicative of at least one of the cooling circuit operation and secondary circuit operation, and operable to change the operation of at least one of the cooling circuit and the secondary circuit when the current ambient condition is outside of a desired operation condition range.

  • Publication number: 20080054041
Abstract: The present disclosure relates an apparatus for controlling the lateral offset of webs of material. The apparatus can include a support structure for supporting a roll and a mechanism for lifting the web of material off the roll. The support structure can include a fixed portion and at least one movable portion. The roll is preferably journaled to first mountings, the first mountings being attached to the movable portion of the support structure, so that the roll can be moved together with the first mountings. A potential advantage of this design is that the journal bearing of the roll on a respective shaft can be configured more easily and given smaller dimensions. According to a further aspect of the disclosure, the lifting mechanism can include at least two single rollers, rotatably journaled to two lateral supports. Such single rollers are advantageously arranged along a circular-arc plane. The web of material can thus be deflected with as large a radius as possible.

  • Patent number: 7007491
Abstract: A thermal management system for a vehicle includes an engine operable to generate energy. An energy storage unit may be associated with the engine and adapted to receive and store the energy generated by the engine. A temperature control unit may be associated with the energy storage unit and adapted to control a temperature in the vehicle. The temperature control unit may be adapted to selectively draw stored energy from the energy storage unit to control the temperature when the engine is not operating. A controller may be adapted to monitor an operating condition of the thermal management system and to control the transfer of the energy from the engine to the energy storage unit based on the monitored operating condition.

  • Patent number: 6448020
Abstract: The present invention relates to proteins, polypeptides and nucleotides related to the human homologue of the Drosophila suppressor of fused gene, which is involved in the transduction of signals in the HH-PTC pathway. The invention also relates to antibodies raised against the polypeptides according to the invention. The molecules according to the present invention are useful in diagnostic and therapeutic methods relating to conditions associated with defects in said pathway, especially certain malformations and cancer. Other fields of application of the molecules according to the invention are e.g. studies of embryonic development, gene transcription and tissue repair.

  • Patent number: 4151092
Abstract: A portable water filter has a first cylindrical container for holding a quantity of liquid to be treated. Included in the filter is a water filter cartridge which is mounted with respect to the first container for treating liquid which is pumped through the filtering material within the cartridge. A second container is coupled to the cartridge and arranged to receive the liquid pumped through the cartridge from the first container. The arrangement is such as to permit manual pumping of the liquid from that first container through the cartridge into the second container. Desirably, the pumping action is achieved by telescopingly inserting the second container within the first container. In addition to its direct treatment of the liquid, the filtering material serves to remove undesired color, taste and odor induced by a disinfectant or bactericidal agent used with the system.
