  • Publication number: 20110044361
Abstract: In order to improve a solid-state laser, in particular a solid-state disc laser, comprising a resonator (40) that defines a resonator radiation field (30) and at least one solid-state disc (12) with the resonator radiation field (30) passing through it, in such a manner that the thermal lens effect can be at least substantially compensated, it is proposed that in reflection the resonator radiation field (30) strikes at least one first adaptive mirror unit (50, 70), with which a distortion of the resonator radiation field (30) as a result of a thermal lens effect of the at least one solid-state disc (12) can be substantially compensated. An adaptive mirror unit (50) can be configured by a heated (58a, 58b) glass sheet (54) with an HR layer (52), for example, or by a pressure-induced deformation by means a fluid (78) in a space (76), which is enclosed with the mirror (72, 74).

  • Publication number: 20110029082
Abstract: An expandable implant for treating bone preferably in a minimally invasive manner includes a preferably cylindrical core element extending along a longitudinal axis and preferably a plurality of nestable, expandable sleeves extending along a longitudinal axis for placement radially about the core element. The plurality of nestable sleeves are sequentially insertable over the core element in such a manner that a first nestable sleeve is inserted over the core element and each subsequently inserted nestable sleeve is received between the core element and the previously inserted nestable sleeve such that the insertion of each additional sleeve causes each previously inserted sleeve to outwardly expand.

  • Patent number: 7815383
Abstract: The compact toothbrush (10) has a handle that is designed so that the toothbrush (10) can be held within a user's open palm. The toothbrush's lower portion (12) has a substantially triangular contour. The toothbrush has a bristled head (14) and an oppositely disposed support rib (26). The support rib extends along the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush from an upper edge of the toothbrush's head (14), to a central region of the toothbrush's lower portion. The lower portion of the toothbrush handle has first and second opposed, outwardly flared side edges (30, 32) that are joined together at the lower edge (34) so that the lower portion has a substantially V-shaped cross-sectional contour. The user cups the toothbrush (10) in the palm of his hand and extends two fingers adjacent to the support rib to stabilize the toothbrush (10) while brushing his teeth.
