  • Publication number: 20160204828
Abstract: A linear radio and a method for performing automatic level control are provided. A demultiplexer, within the linear radio, receives multiplexed signals from an indoor unit via a cable connecting the indoor unit with the linear radio. The demultiplexer demultiplexes the multiplexed signals to produce a transmit signal of an intermediate frequency. A variable gain amplifier within the linear radio, receives the transmit signal and a signal from an operational amplifier and produces the transmit signal with a changed gain, which is provided to a coupler. The coupler provides the transmit signal with the changed gain to a mixer and a power detector simultaneously. The power detector produces a second signal, which is provided to the operational amplifier, thereby forming a closed automatic level control loop. In some embodiments, the demultiplexer produces a power control signal, which is provided to the operational amplifier as a second input.

  • Patent number: 9385561
Abstract: A system for efficiently charging a target device such as a power toothbrush, when placed in a charging receptacle such as a cup connected to a source of electrical power. A plurality of steering coils are arranged around the primary charging coil in the charging receptacle. A control circuit changes the magnetic field phase pattern of the steering coils relative to the phase of magnetic field of the primary coil until the maximum power transfer between the charging receptacle and the target device is determined. Charging of the target device occurs at the maximum power transfer rate.

  • Publication number: 20160060082
Abstract: A hydraulic winch assembly uses a control algorithm that separates brake control from drum rotation to permit fine control of load position. Actuation of an operator interface to a first position displacement threshold will release a drum brake but will not activate a hydraulic pump for operating a hydraulic motor coupled to the drum until the operator interface is moved to a second position displacement threshold. During the operating condition when the brake is released but the pump is not operating, the force of a load applied to a cable coupled to the drum may cause the cable to slowly unwind from and rotate the drum, thereby permitting fine control of drum rotation. Additionally, when the pump is activated upon further movement of the operator interface, a speed of the motor may be modulated, such as by a gear ratio command, to permit precise control over lower drum speeds.

  • Patent number: 9252939
Abstract: A VSAT system modem has three chips and a block. A first chip generates a modulated carrier signal and a local oscillator signal having a same frequency. A second chip receives the local oscillator signal from the first chip and produces a reference signal. The reference signal and the modulated carrier signal are received by the block, which multiplexes the reference signal and the modulated carrier signal onto a single inter-facility link. The single inter-facility link transmits the modulated carrier signal and the reference signal and provides a received modulated carrier signal to a third chip. The first chip may be a synthesizer/modulator chip, the second chip may be a prescaler chip, the third chip may be a DVB-S2 tuner chip and the block may be a multiplexer. The chips may be standard semiconductor chips. Alternatively, a digital-to-analog converter chip may produce the reference signal.

  • Publication number: 20160027541
Abstract: An apparatus for holding radioactive objects includes a base and a central pillar extending upwardly between a bottom end coupled to the base and a top end above the base. A plurality of inner segments are spaced around the central pillar, and a plurality of outer segments are spaced around the inner segments to form pairs. The inner segments, the outer segments and the central pillar may be coupled together to permit limited radial movement of at least one of the segments of each pair. Each pair may define a generally vertical, object-receiving channel arranged between the inner and outer segment of the pair. The segments of each pair may be adapted to bear against an object in the channel of the pair to laterally restrain the object and facilitate heat transfer from the object.
