  • Publication number: 20140361198
Abstract: An apparatus for holding radioactive objects includes a base and a central pillar extending upwardly between a bottom end coupled to the base and a top end above the base. A plurality of inner segments are spaced around the central pillar, and a plurality of outer segments are spaced around the inner segments to form pairs. The inner segments, the outer segments and the central pillar may be coupled together to permit limited radial movement of at least one of the segments of each pair. Each pair may define a generally vertical, object-receiving channel arranged between the inner and outer segment of the pair. The segments of each pair may be adapted to bear against an object in the channel of the pair to laterally restrain the object and facilitate heat transfer from the object.

  • Publication number: 20140333260
Abstract: A system and method for charging at least one target device (29) having a secondary coil (27) positionable in a charging receptacle (25) having a primary coil (23) connected to a source of electrical power, wherein the secondary coil of the target device is out of precise alignment with the primary coil when the target device is positioned in the receptacle. A plurality of steering coils (22-22) are arranged around the primary coil. A control circuit (24) changes the magnetic field phase pattern of the steering coils relative to the phase of magnetic field of the primary coil in a selected sequence until the maximum power transfer between the primary coil and the secondary coil is determined. Charging of the target device is continued with the maximum power transfer steering coil phase pattern.

  • Publication number: 20140203072
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for tracking modifications in a document. One or more fields in the document are defined. The modifications in the document are then tracked. Thereafter, a machine-readable code (MRC) is generated based on the recorded modifications. The MRC is then embedded in the document. The MRC may be scanned any time to view the information on the modifications.

  • Patent number: 8742187
Abstract: The method of the present invention provides a high yield pathway to 2,5-dimethylhexadiene from renewable isobutanol, which enables economic production of renewable p-xylene (and subsequently, terephthalic acid, a key monomer in the production of PET) from isobutanol. In addition, the present invention provides methods for producing 2,5-dimethylhexadiene from a variety of feed stocks that can act as “equivalents” of isobutylene and/or isobutyraldehyde including isobutanol, isobutylene oxide, and isobutyl ethers and acetals. Catalysts employed in the present methods that produce 2,5-dimethylhexadiene can also catalyze alcohol dehydration, alcohol oxidation, epoxide rearrangement, and ether and acetal cleavage.

  • Publication number: 20140032587
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises, by a computer system, receiving a search term, determining a search constraint for a search query, and generating a search query. The search query includes the search term and the search constraint. The search query requires that at least a first number of search results that are returned in response to the search query match both the search term and the search constraint. The search query permits at least a second number of the search results to match only the search term. The computer system provides the search query for a search against a store of data.

  • Patent number: 8636701
Abstract: A medical article securement device holds a medical article such as a catheter in position upon the body of a patient and at least inhibits longitudinal movement of the medical article. The securement device includes a retainer, a pair of hinged actuators, and a pair of engagement members coupled with the hinged actuators. Movement of the actuators causes the engagement members to grip at least a portion of a medical article placed within the retainer so as to inhibit longitudinal movement of the medical article with respect to the retainer. The shape of the retainer inhibits lateral and transverse movement of the medical article with respect to a patient's skin.

  • Publication number: 20130342412
Abstract: An antenna for use with electromagnetic waves includes a waveguide body having an open end and first threads and a cap having second threads which interface with the first threads to press the cap against the open end. The cap includes a cover which covers the open end when the cap is screwed onto the open end using the first and second threads while allowing the electromagnetic waves to pass through the cover. The antenna can be a horn antenna, and can also be a feedhorn antenna used with a reflector in a reflector antenna.

  • Publication number: 20120171741
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for preparing renewable and relatively high purity p-xylene from biomass, and from C5 molecules in particular. For example, biomass treated to provide a fermentation feedstock is fermented with a microorganism capable of producing a C5 alcohol such as 3-methyl-1-butanol, followed by dehydration to provide a C5 alkene such as 3-methyl-1-butanol, forming one or more C8 olefins such as 2,5-dimethyl-3-hexene via metathesis, then dehydrocyclizing the C8 olefins in the presence of a dehydrocyclization catalyst to selectively form renewable p-xylene with high overall yield.
