Abstract: An actuation assembly for concentric variable stator vanes of a rotary component of a gas turbine engine. The actuation assembly includes an inner casing and an intermediate casing defining a first concentric flowpath extending between the inner casing and the intermediate casing. The actuation assembly includes an outer casing defining a second concentric flowpath extending between the intermediate casing and the outer casing. The actuation assembly includes a first variable stator vane extending radially inward from the intermediate casing into the first concentric flowpath. The actuation assembly includes a second variable stator vane extending radially within the second concentric flowpath between a distal end at the outer casing and proximate end at the inner casing and defining a cavity extending therebetween. A first trunnion extends radially inward from the outer casing through the cavity of the second variable stator vane and is drivingly coupled to the first variable stator vane.

Abstract: A filter head of an engine includes a conduit extending along a longitudinal axis and a thermostat extending longitudinally within the conduit. The thermostat is movable between an open position and a closed position. The filter head also includes a sealing member positioned within the conduit downstream from the thermostat. The thermostat abuts the sealing member to inhibit flow through the conduit when in the open position and the thermostat is longitudinally spaced apart from the sealing member to permit axial flow of fluid through the conduit when in the closed position.

Abstract: A method for generating a diagnosis via a digital health application includes receiving, by a digital health application, a request for a diagnosis. A digital health application selects a plurality of questions based on the initial complaint, an order of presenting each of the plurality of questions, the order associated with the plurality of questions. The digital health application displays, to a user of the digital health application, in the associated order, each of the plurality of questions. The digital health application receives user input responsive to the questions. The digital health application determines a diagnosis and modifies a user interface to display an identification of the determined diagnosis. The digital health application requests an indication of whether the user of the digital health application accepts the diagnosis. The digital health application requests an indication of whether to establish a consultation with a medical professional to discuss the diagnosis.

Abstract: A build plate for 3D printers that facilitates separation of the workpiece from the build plate and yet provides lateral anchoring of the unit cell. The build plate comprises (1) a foundation of a material that the unit cell material will not adhere to or will only weakly adhere to, and (2) a plurality of adhesive islands that provide a lateral anchor for the unit cell. An adhesive island is a hole in the foundation of the build plate that is filled with a plug of material to which the unit cell material will strongly adhere. The number, type, location, and size of the adhesive islands is tailored to provide enough lateral stability where needed, but not more.

The remote control device may detect a user interface event, such as a button press or a rotation of the remote control device. The remote control device or the hub device may determine whether to transmit digital messages to as unicast messages or multicast messages based on the type of user interface event detected.

Abstract: In additive manufacturing, a method of adding a segment of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic filament. Adding a segment of filament involves three tasks: (1) determining where the segment of filament should be added, (2) depositing the segment of filament at the desired location, and (3) tamping the segment of filament to ensure adhesion and eliminate voids. Tamping the segment of filament is performed by steering a wheel along the filament. In accordance with the illustrative embodiment, the wheel is steered around a yaw axis that is offset from the wheel's axis by a distance s, where s is a positive real number.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing waste (including liquid, solid, and mixed waste) without using a sink, worktop, or countertop disposal feature. Specific examples provide particular use in connection with an aircraft or other vehicle galley, lavatory, or any other location in which waste that requires disposal is generated. The disclosed embodiments may be installed in an initial galley or lavatory, or they may be used to retrofit an existing environment, such that an entire new disposal system or new sink footprint is not required.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to identifying potentially malicious messages and generating instream alerts based on real-time message monitoring. A computing platform may monitor a plurality of messages received by a messaging server associated with an operator. Subsequently, the computing platform may detect that a message of the plurality of messages is potentially malicious. In response to detecting that the message of the plurality of messages is potentially malicious, the computing platform may execute one or more protection actions. In executing the one or more protection actions, the computing platform may generate an alert message comprising information indicating that the message of the plurality of messages is potentially malicious. Then, the computing platform may send the alert message to the messaging server, which may cause the messaging server to deliver the alert message to a computing device associated with an intended recipient of the message.

Abstract: Conventional efforts for estimating the geographic location (geolocation) of devices associated with particular Internet Protocol (IP) addresses typically yield woefully inaccurate results. In many cases, the estimated IP geolocations are on the wrong continent. Embodiments of the present technology include techniques for identifying and improving incorrect estimates based on latency measurements, Domain Name Server (DNS) information, and routing information. For example, latency measurements from multiple collectors can be used to rate the plausibility of an IP geolocation estimate and, in certain cases, to increase the accuracy of the LP geolocation estimate. DNS and routing information can be used to corroborate the estimated IP geolocation. The resulting more accurate IP geolocation estimate can be used to route Internet traffic more efficiently, to enforce rules for routing sensitive information, and to simplify troubleshooting.

Abstract: Novel metallic systems and methods for their fabrication provide high temperature machine parts formed of a consolidated nano-crystalline metallic material. The material comprises a matrix formed of a solvent metal having a melting point greater than 1,250° C. with crystalline grains having diameters of no more than about 500 nm, and a plurality of dispersed metallic particles formed on the basis of a solute metal in the solvent metal matrix and having diameters of no more than about 200 nm. The particle density along the grain boundary of the matrix is as high as about 2 nm2 of grain boundary area per particle so as to substantially block grain boundary motion and rotation and limit creep at temperatures above 35% of the melting point of the consolidated nano-crystalline metallic material. The machine parts formed may include turbine blades, gears, hypersonics, radiation shielding, and other high temperature parts.
