    Abstract: A vehicle sliding door interlock mechanism is provided to lock a sliding door of a vehicle when a fuel filler door is in the opened position. The sliding door interlock mechanism basically has a sliding door locking device, a fuel filler door opening device and a linkage arrangement operatively coupling the sliding door locking device to the fuel filler door opening device. The fuel filler opening device preferably includes a plunger that is selectively movable between a lockable retracted position and an extended position in which the plunger applies an opening force to the fuel filling door. When the plunger moves from the retracted position to the extended position, the linkage arrangement is operates the sliding door locking device to lock the sliding door of the vehicle.
