The process is particularly suitable for depolymerization and for recycling of PET-containing wastes. The process is performed in an extruder E having at least two barrels G1, G2, wherein the at least one polymer P1 is provided in barrel G1 as suspension S1. The suspension S1 is then transported into the barrel G2 and there at least one glycol compound G, preferably ethylene glycol, is added to the suspension S1.
