  • Publication number: 20080314972
Abstract: A banking system controlled responsive to data bearing records includes an automated banking machine which includes a deposit accepting device. Data read from a user card through operation of a card reader in the machine is used to determine if the data on the card corresponds to an account of an authorized machine user. The deposit accepting device is operative to receive a stack of sheets and to separate each sheet from the stack through operation of a picker. Each sheet is aligned with the sheet path and analyzed by analysis devices including at least one magnetic read head, an imager and/or a validation device. Sheets determined not to have at least one property of a genuine sheet are returned to a user of the machine. Sheets determined to have at least one property of genuine sheets are processed and stored in the machine. The machine operates to identify malfunctions of the deposit accepting device.

  • Patent number: 7413189
Abstract: An ATM includes a currency note dispenser having a currency cassette, a note picker, a note transporter, and a note presenter. A cassette tambour door automatically opens during insertion of the cassette into the dispenser. The picker can pick notes through the opening. A spring loaded housing wall tab retains the picker shaft in mating connection with a drive pin. The transporter can move notes vertically and horizontally. The transporter includes belts between an idle shaft and a drive shaft. The idle shaft is vertically movable relative to a drive shaft to maintain belt tension. The transporter also includes convexly tapered rollers that automatically recenter a loose belt. A presenter gate is at a note dispensing outlet of the ATM. The gate is opened by actuating a lever linked with an arm connected to the gate. The gate opens by moving a pin upward in an angled slot.

  • Patent number: 7284693
Abstract: An ATM can accept checks and dispense cash to users. An inkiet printhead can print indicia on accepted checks. An ink catcher is positioned on a side of a check path opposite to the printhead. The ink catcher includes a body portion, a projecting portion, and a head portion. The body portion has an ink holding interior area. The Projecting portion has an opening that is in fluid communication with the interior area. The head portion includes an opening, a wiper, and is rotatable relative to the projecting portion. The rotation enables the head portion opening to be aligned with the projecting portion opening. In this position, the aligned openings enable ink expelled from the printhead which does not strike a check to be captured in the interior area. Other head portion rotation enables the wiper member to clean the inkjet nozzles.
