    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for tuning hyperparameters of a machine-learning model. A plurality of metrics are selected for which hyperparameters of the machine-learning model are to be tuned. Each metric is associated with a plurality of specification parameters including a target score, a penalty factor, and a bonus factor. The plurality of specification parameters are configured for each metric in accordance with a first criterion. The machine-learning model is evaluated using one or more validation datasets to obtain a metric score. A weighted loss function is formulated based on a difference between the metric score and the target score of each metric, the penalty factor or the bonus factor. The hyperparameters associated with the machine-learning model are tuned in order to optimize the weighted loss function. In response to the weighted loss function being optimized, the machine-learning model is provided as a validated machine-learning model.

The method includes the steps of: establishing a calculated route to a destination; examining the calculated route to detect whether there is a first point where the calculated route exits a freeway and a second point where the calculated route enters a freeway; evaluating map data to determine whether the freeway exited and the freeway entered are the same freeway; and replacing road segments of the calculated route between the first point and the second point constituting the freeway-ramp-freeway situation with freeway segments between the first point and the second point, thereby avoiding the freeway-ramp-freeway situation.

    Abstract: A computer network system and method of receiving, storing, and authenticating a user's presence and information obtained at geographical user-location is disclosed. A first device displays a plurality of input regions on its display screen. Utilizing a stylus or fingertip, the user enters hand-written inputs in those regions. The first device transmits the user hand-written inputs and geographical location to a server and subsequently removes the displayed plurality of hand-written inputs from the plurality of input regions for the next user. A server receives the user's hand-written inputs and location, associates the location to the user, stores them, and transmits them to a second device where, in real time, they are displayed on a display screen of the second device, facilitating authentication and verification of the user's presence and user's hand-written inputs. In addition, authenticating documents comprising the hand-written inputs may be generated for audits.

The method and apparatus creates a virtual zero-length dummy link, connects one end of the virtual zero-length dummy link to all link-spot pairs indicating an original intersection destination, sets another end of the virtual zero-length dummy link as a temporary destination, calculates possible routes between the temporary destination and a current vehicle position and selects the optimum route. After determining the optimum route, the navigation system removes the virtual zero-length dummy link and starts the route guidance operation to the intersection destination.

    Abstract: A system for comparing various routes, identifying delays among the routes, and selecting a more desirable route, even if the desirable route is not the shortest distance, is described. In one embodiment, the more desirable route is the faster route. In one embodiment, the more desirable route is a route with fewer in-route delays. In one embodiment, the system loads a map from a memory and retrieves road level information based on position information of roads and delays. The roads in the map are described at various levels of detail, wherein lower levels contain more detail and relatively higher levels that contain less detail. One embodiment includes detecting a route having links with a substantially larger number of delays and adding an additional penalty cost for the links at higher levels based on penalties computed from the links at lower level road levels.

    Abstract: A navigation system is able to find an optimum route to a destination even when a large non-digitized area exists between a starting point to the destination. The navigation system produces processing points based on a particular shape and size of the large non-digitized area and determines whether such processing points should be used for route search operations. When it is determined that the route search operation is effective, the navigation system performs A* algorithm search operations with respect to the start point, processing points and the destination and detects an optimum route to detour the large non-digitized area.
