  • Patent number: 4887977
Abstract: A cable connector for a flat cable is characterized by a base and a cover which, when conjoined, define a cable receiving volume therebetween. The cover is provided with a resilient flap which, when deformed by a cable received in the cable receiving volume, reacts to generate a clamping force serving to strain relieve the cable with respect to the connector.

  • Patent number: 4824383
Abstract: A terminator for a multiple conductors includes a ground structure with generally U-shaped channels. The channel receives an insulated finger having an electrical contact element. When connected to ground potential the contacts are electrically isolated from each other.

  • Patent number: 4800236
Abstract: A cable structure in round or flat form is characterized by a corrugated septum disposed intermediate an inner and an outer sheath. The septum contacts the sheaths to define tubular envelopes extending axially along the length of the cable. Each of the envelopes is able to receive a predetermined number of conductors. The sheaths and the septum are electrically connectable to a ground potential so as to totally electromagnetically isolate the conductors entirely along their axial lengths.

  • Patent number: 4774394
Abstract: A method for welding a metallic conductor wire to a metallic fixture is characterized by introducing the wire into an opening in the fixture such that the axis of the portion of the wire within the fixture extends linearly therethrough and such that the axis of the welding beam extends substantially colinearly to the axis of the portion of the wire within the fixture. The beam of welding energy being targeted on the facial end of the fixture.

  • Patent number: 4735582
Abstract: A positioning apparatus for locating conductor wires of a cable over mounting pads on a substrate is characterized by a base having a recess into which the conductors are introduced. The base has grooves which support the conductor wires in parallel. A portion of the conductor wires extend cantilever fashion past the forward edge thereof. A cover has an array of resilient fingers which impart a biasing force to extending wires of a multiconductor cable to urge these wires into contact with conductive mounting pads provided on a substrate as the base and cover are drawn together.

  • Patent number: 4731031
Abstract: A transmission cable connector having a shell with a conductive layer thereon is contoured to place the layer a predetermined distance from the extending individual conductor wires of the cable, the contacts of the connector, the point of interconnection therebetween, and/or from the tracings on the surface of a transition board, if one is provided, all of which are provided in the transition region between the end of the cable and the contacts of the connector. The predetermined distance is determined such that when the conductive layer of the shell is connected to a predetermined potential electrical characteristics are imparted to the elements in the transition region that closely match the electrical characteristics of the cable attachable to the connector.

  • Patent number: 4723916
Abstract: A circular pin plug and socket connector has a conductor support block with a central axial bore therethrough and with a plurality of grooves extending radially from the bore. A cable having a plurality of conductors is received through the bore, with the conductors in the cable flaring radially into an individual ones of the grooves. The grooves are arranged to receive and to orient the individual conductors of the cable along a predetermined presentment angle. Each groove has a pair of slots associated therewith. The slots are sized to receive the tines of insulation displacement contact. The slots are arranged on a circular locus centered on the axis of the bore.

  • Patent number: 4601527
Abstract: Shielded header having a dielectric housing with electrical pins mounted therein. The header is ground to a cable connector, a computer chassis and a printed circuit board using a ground strip attached to the housing lower surface and a spring contact mounted to engage the cable connector inside the housing and the computer chassis and printed circuit board outside the housing.

  • Patent number: 4416501
Abstract: A terminal for establishing electrical contact with the conductive shield of a cable having an aluminized Mylar.RTM. layer surrounded by an outer braid and then a layer of insulation forming a jacket. A ferrule is inserted between the outer braid and the Mylar.RTM. and is locked in place by an insulator displacement device which penetrates the insulation jacket to establish electrical contact with the shield.
