  • Patent number: 8461839
Abstract: In a method and control system for producing two-dimensional diagnostic MR images using a magnetic resonance imaging scanner, a first three-dimensional MR image data set of a predetermined region within a body is produced using the magnetic resonance imaging scanner with an initial resolution. A second three-dimensional MR image data set of the predetermined region with a second resolution is then produced using the magnetic resonance imaging scanner, the second resolution being higher than the first resolution. Using the first three-dimensional MR image data set, layers are determined for the diagnostic two-dimensional MR images to be produced. The two-dimensional MR images are then computed from the second MR image data set for these layers automatically.

  • Patent number: 8412460
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and systems (e.g., computer systems and computer program products) for characterizing cellular constituents, particularly genes and gene products. In particular, the invention provides methods for assigning or determining the biological function of uncharacterized genes and gene products by using “response profiles,” i.e., measurements of pluralities of cellular constituents in cells having a modified gene or gene product, as phenotypic markers for the gene or gene product. Methods are provided for clustering such response profiles so that similar or correlated response profiles are organized into the same cluster. The invention also provides databases or “compendiums” of response profiles to which the response profile of an uncharacterized gene or gene product can compared.

  • Patent number: 8362769
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance method and system to automatically differentiate whether a pixel of an MR image acquired with magnetic resonance system originated from fat-dominated tissue or water-dominated tissue, only one spin echo-based magnetic resonance signal per pixel is acquired at a point in time at which the phase of a magnetic resonance signal of aqueous tissue has a phase opposite to the phase of a magnetic resonance signal of fat tissue. The phase angle of the pixel is then calculated, a base phase at the pixel depending on the magnetic resonance system is determined, and a corrected phase angle of the pixel is determined from the phase angle and the base phase. Whether the pixel originated from fat-dominated tissue or water-dominated tissue is then determined using the corrected phase angle of the pixel.
