    Abstract: Deep reactive ion etching creates a single mask MEMS structure 20-50 &eegr;m deep on the top surface of a wafer. Thereafter, a bottom surface etch cooperates with trenches formed in the MEMS structure to provide through trenches which release large area structures of arbitrary shape and having a thickness up to that of the wafer. The released structure is supported in the wafer by MEMS support beams and motion is detected and affected by MEMS sensors and actuators, respectively.

The point-of-sale information is collected to identify the purchase of pre-recorded product from traditional retail outlets as well as from on-line facilities where such products are sold. The information is collected at a common collection agent, and the information is parsed into various fields and expanded to include data relating to each pre-recorded product identified from the point-of-sale and on-line information. The expanded point-of-sale information is stored in a data repository where clients and affiliates can access the data using various filtering criteria. Real-time sales and marketing information becomes available on a demand basis for the clients and affiliates.

The latent oxide pattern is then used to mask an etch. The second aspect, designated as “simultaneous multi-level etching (SMILE)”, provides a process sequence wherein a first pattern may be given an advanced start relative to a second pattern in etching into an underlying material, such that the first pattern may be etched deeper, shallower, or to the same depth as the second pattern. The third aspect, designated as “delayed LOCOS”, provides a means of defining a contact hole pattern at one stage of a process, then using the defined pattern at a later stage to open the contact holes.

    Abstract: An implanted medical device (IMD) conserves power by discriminating received radio frequency (RF) signals between noise and data based on frequency. Data is processed while noise is attenuated. The IMD operates in a first, relatively low, power mode while not receiving the RF signals, in a second, higher, power mode responsive to receiving RF signals, and operates in still higher power mode when the RF signals' average frequency over a selected period is within a predetermined range. A receiver circuit receives RF signals and discriminates a data signal from noise based on average frequency of the RF signals over selected time periods. The receiver circuit operates in a power-conserving mode unless it receives RF signals, or otherwise operates in a relatively higher-power mode. The receiver transfers signals to a telemetry circuit that operates in a power-conserving mode until it receives a valid data signal to operate in higher power mode.
