  • Publication number: 20080290157
Abstract: A system and method for a biometric-based identity verification for authorizing a check cashing transaction between a consumer and a merchant using a biometric identification device and at least one consumer biometric identifier scan. Said consumer registers with said system at least one biometric identifier and personal identity-verifying data both used to authenticate the identity of the consumer without the use of a man-made identity token during a check cashing transaction. During said transaction, said consumer enters at least one digital scan of at least one of their registered biometrics and said system authenticates said consumer's identity through comparing said digital scan with at least one digital scan stored in at least one system database. Upon positive identification of said consumer, said transaction is approved.

  • Publication number: 20080271116
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method of enrolling potential system users for a biometric system for identity verification. Potential system user information is entered into the system, either by the user or a system operator, and is stored as a partially-enabled user record. The user of a partially-enabled user record fully enables the record by presenting information previously stored in the user record and presenting the remainder of user information necessary to complete record activation. Enrollment data is used to authenticate the system user's identity and authorize related transaction accesses in a biometric system for identity verification.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 7389269
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for activating financial cards via biometric authentication of an individual presenting the card for activation. Information from the financial card presented for activation is entered into the system and is stored in association with the card presenter's biometric information. Financial card activation is enabled via the biometric system sending the entered financial card information and an authorization of the identity of the card presenter to the card provider for card activation.
