  • Patent number: 10311495
Abstract: A personalized housing for a consumer product, such as a speaker, includes a customizable cover at least partially covering the product and a set of at least two end caps coupled to the product. The end caps are oriented in at least partial opposition to each other and installed using an interference fit. A vibration dampening connector or buffer couples the end caps to the product. The buffer is arranged such that urging the end caps onto the product couples the end caps in a releasable interference fit, and the cover remains coupled to the product when the end caps are pulled from the cover. The cover allows access to controls located on the product, for example volume and input controls, may be made of a front panel covering only the front of the product, and a corresponding enclosure that covers the top, rear and sides of the product.

  • Patent number: 10192223
Abstract: A method of identifying authentic products versus counterfeit products using tow unique identifier codes is accomplished by providing a first identifier code on the exterior of a product package that identifies the product, the appropriate location for sale, the number of times the code has been scanned and whether or not the product is registered. This information alerts potential purchasers if the product is either counterfeit, or an unauthorized resale. The purchaser then opens the package and is provided a second identifier code for registering the product. The registration information includes retailer and price information, alerting the manufacturer of unauthorized retail activity, and also changes the product designation in the manufacturer database to indicate the product may not be resold. That information is then associated with the first identifier code in the event it is rescanned by another potential purchaser.

  • Patent number: 10021476
Abstract: A customizable headphone having a removable and interchangeable housing includes an earphone having a transducer for reproducing sound a sound port, and a body portion. A first housing sized to accommodate the body portion is coupled to and partially encloses the body portion using a resilient releasable connection without obstructing the sound port when affixed to the body portion. Upon biasing the first housing to separate from the body portion, the first housing may be fully removed and replaced with a second housing with a different appearance and characteristics. The releasable connection may include a retaining ring coupled to the body portion in a channel to engage the interior of a housing in a pressure fit.

  • Publication number: 20160066080
Abstract: A customizable headphone includes an earphone having a body portion and a nozzle portion extending from the body portion. A decorative housing including an opening is designed to accommodate the body portion. The decorative housing also includes a releasable connection for affixing the decorative housing to the body portion, wherein the decorative housing encloses the body portion with the nozzle portion exposed. Upon releasing the releasable connection, a user may separate the decorative housing from the body portion and install a different decorative housing on the body portion as desired. The releasable connection can be a lip on the opening that corresponds to a channel on the body portion, and stabilizers either on the body portion or the decorative housing prevent the decorative housing from moving relative to the body portion.

  • Patent number: 9237786
Abstract: A mobile device and peripheral hardware case and holder comprises a panel section for attachment to the rear of peripheral hardware, such as a battery pack or amplifier. The panel member includes edges which slide in to rails of a mobile device case, which holds a mobile device, such as a cell phone or music player. The rails of the case include a stop for holding the panel section in an installed position, and a corresponding locking arrangement biases the holder in a locked position. When assembled, the holder preserves the connections of the mobile device and peripheral hardware in proximity to each other.

  • Publication number: 20150189416
Abstract: A headphone having two earpieces, each earpiece having a audio jack, and a plug adapted to releasably engage the audio jack and when inserted into the audio jack, creating a substantially air-tight seal. The plug is molded from a resilient material, such that it may be slightly deformed when inserted tightly into the headphone earpiece and retain its original shape when removed. The plug includes a tab for engaging the interior of the headphone and locking the plug in position. The plug also includes raised indicia such as a logo, shaped such that a user can grasp and rotate the indicia to insert and lock the plug in place.

  • Patent number: 9008346
Abstract: A headphone with articulating earpieces includes a headband, a hinged fork, and earpieces connected to the fork in a manner allowing the earpieces to articulate relative to the fork as a hinge on the fork articulates. The earpieces are arranged on the fork in a manner allowing them to face each other while articulating from a folded position adjacent the headband, to an unfolded position for listening. When unfolded for listening, the earpieces are adapted to fully extend into a biased open position with an audible click. Similarly, when articulating the earphones to a closed position, they are biased against the headband with an audible click.
