  • Publication number: 20130329933
Abstract: A hexagonal headphone earpiece includes a frame and overlaying pad, each of an elongated hexagonal shape, and oriented to have vertices of the hexagonal shape at a top end and a bottom end of the earpiece. The frame is resilient and supports the pad, which includes a foam cushion surrounded by an outer layer of material. Vents in the outer layer allow air to escape from the pad as it is compressed and decompressed, the vents preferably aimed away from a user's ear. A mesh spans the hexagonal shape, presenting a barrier between a user's ear and a headphone transducer.

  • Publication number: 20130208939
Abstract: An earphone support for an in-ear, earbud-type of headphone has an earphone with a portion for insertion into a user's ear canal, and a portion for connecting to a cable. An armature connects the earphone to the cable and the armature is associated with a connector for maintaining a portion of the earphone cable in a slack condition when another portion or the earphone cable is drawn taught. It is anticipated that support for the slack portion of the cable may be provided by a separate ear hook apparatus, or by a loop formed of the earphone cable.

  • Publication number: 20110293120
Abstract: An improved earphone transducer made of a first ring-shaped diaphragm covering the area of the earphone transducer perimeter to the transducer voice coil, and a second dome-shaped transducer covering the center space above the voice coil. The ring-shaped diaphragm and dome-shaped diaphragm have overlapping areas to facilitate integration into the transducer, and the dome shaped diaphragm has a surface anomaly at its apex to facilitate manufacture. The diaphragms are of differing thicknesses and/or hardness to produce a more dynamic sound response, and may also be made of different thermoplastic materials.
