RFID tags, RFID electronic devices and related methods for anti-theft and data transmission purposes
Patent number: 7926727Abstract: An RFID tag is integrated with a processor of an electronic product for anti-theft purpose. The RFID tag receives an enable mark when the electronic product is checked out at a point of sale. Only when the processor receives the enable mark from the RFID tag can the start-up sequence of the electronic product be executed. An RFID tag is integrated with a sensor of an electronic product for data transmission purpose. Data measured by the sensor can be stored in the memory of the RFID tag and outputted via the antenna of the RFID tag.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2006Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: MStar Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Wei Chang, Heng-Chih Lin, Henry Tin-Hang Yung -
Patent number: 7741987Abstract: An analog circuit architecture is fabricated with dual gate oxides and dual voltage supplies. In the analog circuit architecture, different kinds of devices/transistors with different gate oxide thicknesses are biased by different voltages, such that advantages of each device technology are mixed to enhance total performance of the analog circuit. For example, thin oxide 0.18 um transistors are biased at 1.8V for higher speed and lower power consumption, whereas thick oxide 0.35 um transistors are biased at 3.3V for a wider signal swing range.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2008Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Assignee: MStar Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Henry Tin-Hang Yung, Chao-Ping Huang, Steve Wiyi Yang

Patent number: 7702043Abstract: The present invention provides a passive RFID chip with on-chip charge pumps for generating electrical power for the chip from radio frequencies. The passive RFID chip comprises an analog portion and a digital portion. The analog portion primarily comprises a voltage sensor and an AM data detector. The digital portion comprises a state machine digital logic controller. Incoming RF signals enter the chip via external antennas. The RF signals are converted into regulated DC signals by RF-DC converters with the voltage sensor. The RF-DC converters provide power for all the on-chip components and hence the chip does not require external power supply. The incoming RF signals are demodulated by demodulators and enter the AM data detector where the envelope transitions are detected. A voltage alarm is provided to ensure the voltage level does not drop below an operational level of the chip.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2004Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: MStar Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Sterling Smith, Henry Tin-Hang Yung
