    Abstract: A connector device includes a common jack connected to a first information-handling apparatus and a plug connected to a second information-handling apparatus. The plug is adapted for insertion into the common jack and contains a first conductive surface and a ground contact. A first jack contact is formed on the common jack for receiving communication signals when engaging with the first conductive surface of the plug. A memory buffer is used for receiving the communication signals through the first jack contact and for sending out the communication signals to the first information-handling apparatus when the memory buffer is not empty. A control monitors a status of the memory buffer. When the memory buffer is not empty, the control circuit determines that the plug is inserted into the common jack, and when the memory buffer is empty, the control circuit determines that the plug is removed from the common jack.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a system for synchronously monitoring and controlling multiple media devices, such as the DVD-RW drive, the music player, the TV tuner, the DVD player, etc. The system includes a user interface in form of a polyhedron like a cube, and one surface of the polyhedron is able to present the operation status of each media device which is coupled to the media center of the system. To demonstrate the operation statuses, the indicator lights with distinguishable colors could be applied. Besides, the way of operation status expression may further include the preview window and the progress bar.     Abstract: The invention is directed to a DNA probe set, the probe set comprising a first probe set and a second probe set, the first probe set being sufficient in length and substantially complementary to an entire breakpoint region of a first DNA and nucleotides breakpoint region but less than an entire chromosome such that the first probe set will hybridize to both sides of the breakpoint region regardless of whether the first DNA has been broken in the breakpoint region and either end fused to another DNA, and the second probe set being sufficient in length and substantially complementary to an entire breakpoint region of a second DNA and nucleotides on both sides of the breakpoint region but less than an entire chromosome such that the second probe set will hybridize to both sides of the breakpoint region regardless of whether the second DNA has been broken in the breakpoint region and either end fused to another DNA. Diagnostic kits utilizing the probe sets of the invention are also claimed.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting a cell sample from a liquid specimen utilizes a collection receptacle in which the specimen is deposited, with a filter media being place in communication with a discharge port in the collection receptacle and a transfer device for drawing specimen from the collection receptacle and through the filter for capturing the cellular component of the specimen on the filter media for defining a cell sample for analysis. The collection receptacle, filter media and carrier therefor and the transfer device may be supplied in kit form for use in a clinical environment. A hypobaric vessel may be used and the transfer device and this vessel may also serve as a disposal receptacle for the liquid specimen passed through the filter media.
