Patent number: 6950654Abstract: An data stream protection system and method of use is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of N main transceivers; a plurality of N standby transceivers logically paired with unique N main transceivers; a plurality of N main network adapters logically paired with and operatively in communication with a unique N main transceivers; a standby network adapter; a switching unit connected to each of the standby transceivers and the standby network adapter; and a switching unit controller operatively in communication with the switching unit, the main transceivers, the main network adapters, the standby transceiver, and the standby network adapter. The switching unit controller detects an alarm condition in a main transceiver/network adapter pair and directs a standby transceiver associated with the failed pair to be routed to the standby network adapter through the switching unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2002Date of Patent: September 27, 2005Assignee: Harris CorporationInventors: Tjo San Jao, Anader Benyamin-Seeyar

Patent number: 6744314Abstract: A novel linearization apparatus for reducing power amplifier distortion does not require delay lines. The apparatus includes a power amplifier and an error generator. The signals provided by the error generator (error signal) and the power amplifier are combined to subtract out the distortion introduced by the power amplifier. The error generator includes two auxiliary amplifiers, wherein one of the auxiliary amplifiers is operated in it saturated region and the other is operated in its non-saturated region. The power amplifier and the two auxiliary amplifiers have the same distortion characteristics and receive the same input signal. The auxiliary amplifier operating in its saturated region introduces distortion and the auxiliary amplifier operating in its non-saturated region does not introduce distortion. The two signals provided by the auxiliary amplifiers are combined to produce an error signal having a distortion component that is an approximate replica of the power amplifier distortion.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2002Date of Patent: June 1, 2004Assignee: Harris CorporationInventors: Guang Fei Zhang, Xing Wang, Fabio Concilio, Tjo San Jao
