  • Patent number: 9293636
Abstract: A process for dressing a solder pad removes excess solder from locations that should be free of solder, such as circuit traces, other solder pads, and components near the solder pad being dressed. A first area of a substrate comprises solder to be removed and is heated to a first temperature. A second area of the substrate is heated to a second temperature. A vacuum nozzle is heated to a third temperature sufficient to melt the solder and is scanned across the area to be dressed, melting and vacuuming away the excess solder. The scanning process is controlled using a computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine.

  • Publication number: 20160080492
Abstract: The present application advantageously provides a system and method for implementing a cloud service with private storage. The system includes a storage device, a cloud server, and a client device. The system is configured in a way that the private storage device designated/owned by a user of the cloud service to initiate a communication with the cloud server to register as the user data storage location for a particular account of the cloud service rather than using a “central public storage” location as in a traditional public cloud service.

  • Publication number: 20160081198
Abstract: For aligning an electronic component to a required orientation, the electronic component is picked up and it is inspected while it is being held to determine its initial orientation. A précising mechanism is then rotated to correspond to the initial orientation of the electronic component. After the electronic component is secured on the précising mechanism in the initial orientation, the précising mechanism is rotated to align the electronic component to the required orientation. Thereafter, the electronic component that has been aligned to the required orientation may be picked up for further testing and/or processing.

  • Patent number: 9285863
Abstract: Power savings is provided to users of various electronic devices by monitoring the times and locations at which those users activate, deactivate, or otherwise change an operational state of one or more functional elements of a device. Other contextual or environmental information can be captured as well when the user performs such an action. One or more statistical analysis or prediction algorithms can be used to determine when and/or where the user is likely to repeat the one or more actions, where a confidence level of the prediction can be impacted at least in part by the environmental and contextual factors. When a prediction has a minimum level of confidence, a corresponding action can be performed automatically by the device when the relevant factors are met. Changes in behavior can be monitored such that the predictions can be refined over time.

  • Publication number: 20160070254
Abstract: A digital material skin is made of a set of discrete units with a finite set of parts and joints. The discrete units are assembled into a layer according to a regular geometry, with each of the discrete units being reversibly connected to at least one other unit in the set. The reversibly connected set of units forms an exterior structure surface that is larger than the individual discrete units. Digital material skins may be used to construct any shape or interior volume, whether regular or amorphous. The skin surface may be enclosed or open. The skin may rely on an interior digital material structure for support or may be self-supported. The skin may be part of a larger assembly or apparatus, enclosing an interior volume or structure.

  • Patent number: 9281817
Abstract: A multiplexer tree operable to control an output a sequence of data stored in a plurality of storage units in accordance with a non-linear address sequence that has less bit transition counts than a linear address sequence. The non-linear address sequence is provided to the selection inputs of the multiplexer tree and causes the levels having greater numbers of multiplexers to toggle less frequently than the levels having smaller numbers of multiplexers. The non-linear address sequence may comprise a Gray code sequence where every two adjacent addresses differ by a single bit. The non-linear address sequence may be optimized to minimize transistor switching in the multiplexer tree.

  • Patent number: 9282372
Abstract: A system includes a television set for displaying a video for a viewer. The television set connects to a persona television system over a data network and sends a request for a television show for a persona to the persona television system. A “persona” includes a character representation of a person other than the viewer, an event, or a group. The persona television system selects a television show based on the persona. The persona television system sends to the television set a show description of the television show. The show description includes video source information about video source such that the television set can obtain television show from video source. In this manner, a data network video is automatically selected as a television show based on a persona and provided to the television set, increasing the ease with which the viewer can identify video choices of interest.

  • Patent number: 9280365
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for managing configuration data. These are particularly directed towards the management of configuration data in disconnected remote devices of a host system. For example, this may be an access control environment having one or more connected access control devices (i.e. devices in communication with a central server), and one or more disconnected access control devices (i.e. devices operating without communication with the central server), the latter being regarded as disconnected remote devices. In overview, the present systems and methods make use of a versioning protocol to allow the reliable distribution of configuration data at the disconnected remote devices, this protocol operating to best ensure the propagation of the most current configuration data.
