Publication number: 20130107424Abstract: A latching apparatus provides selective injection and ejection of an electronic module relative to a chassis that includes a support member. The apparatus includes a housing to be coupled to the electronic module, and a handle pivotably coupled to the housing and movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. A catch in a first position retains the handle in the latched position. An actuator is coupled to the handle and operable to move the catch to a second position. In response to movement of the actuator in a direction the same as the direction of the handle toward the unlatched position, the catch is moved to its second position. As a result, the handle is movable between the latched and unlatched positions to permit the electronic module to be injected or ejected relative to the chassis.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2011Publication date: May 2, 2013Applicant: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Sean Thomas, Saeed Seyed, Hong Tran Huynh, Phillip S. Patent number: 8270171Abstract: To increase air flow, an air intake/outtake (i.e., intake, outtake, or both) is positioned on a front surface of a housing, such as a rack-mounted computer network switch housing. The front surface includes jacks, controls, plugs, receptacles or other input/output for connection with the processor in the housing. The air intake/outtake is one or more openings on the front surface with the input/output components. In one embodiment, to avoid interference with the input/output components and increasing the height of the housing, the air intake/outtake is a slot extending most of or all of the distance between the sides of the housing and being above or below the input/output. An intermediate plate may be used to form and support the air intake/outtake.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2010Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Susheela Nanjunda Rao Narasimhan, Hong Tran Huynh, Toan Nguyen, Duong Cu Lu, Phillip S. Patent number: 7658114Abstract: In one embodiment, an ultrasonic flow meter is provided for measuring a flow rate of a medium flowing through a conduit, the ultrasonic flow meter comprising two ultrasonic emitters and two ultrasonic receivers mounted to the conduit. The flow rate is determined based on a first time interval of a first ultrasonic signal traveling from the first ultrasonic emitter to the first ultrasonic receiver, and a second time interval of a second ultrasonic signal traveling from the second ultrasonic emitter to the second ultrasonic receiver. In some embodiments, the first and second ultrasonic signals travel in a downstream direction with respect to the flow. In other embodiments, the first ultrasonic signal travels along a first transmission path that forms a first angle between the first transmission path and the flow direction, while the second ultrasonic signal travels along a second transmission path that forms a second and different angle between the second transmission path and the flow direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2008Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Lei Sui, Toan Nguyen

Techniques for providing increased flexibility to input/output banks with respect to supply voltages
Patent number: 7196542Abstract: Techniques are provided for increasing flexibility to I/O banks with respect to supply voltages. Multiple supply voltages can be provided to a bank of I/O pins. Separate I/O pins residing in an I/O bank are driven by buffers that are coupled to different supply voltages. Dedicated I/O pins are driven by buffers with pre-selected supply voltages. The dedicated I/O pins can be grouped together into the same I/O bank providing greater flexibility to drive signals on I/O pins in other I/O banks at different voltages. Also, a dual mode input buffer can drive an input signal to a voltage determined by one of two possible supply voltage levels. In addition, power on reset circuits for an I/O bank can monitor the voltage of two or more supply voltages.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2004Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Altera CorporationInventors: Andy Lee, Toan Nguyen, Stephanie Tran, Cameron McClintock, Brian Johnson -
