Abstract: A tool for use during installation of a pre-hung door. The tool includes a base and at least one orientation indicator, such as a bubble level, mounted to the base. The tool also includes at least one spacer extending from the base. The at least one spacer may be positioned between an edge of a door panel and a respective adjacent portion of a door frame. The tool may also include at least one tongue extending from the base in a direction opposite the at least one spacer. The at least one tongue may be positioned between a weather strip and a face of the door frame so that the tool can remain in place when the door panel is open relative to the door frame.

Abstract: A gasket for an entryway is described that includes a compliant sealing portion having an uncompressed gasket thickness and a less compliant compression control portion having opposing exposed surfaces. A perimeter of the less compliant compression control portion is surrounded by the compliant sealing portion. A thickness of the less compliant compression control portion is less than the uncompressed gasket thickness.

Abstract: A door assembly and a frame member for a door assembly. The door assembly may include at least one door panel and a door frame having a plurality of frame members including a header and a pair of side jambs. The invention may also be considered a frame member. The frame member may include a core; and a top piece adjoining the core to form a structural member. The core and the top piece may be a composite of cellulosic material and at least one other material. The top piece may be a two-piece top piece and may include hollow cavities. Also disclosed are door jamb frame members and mullion frame members.

Abstract: A multipoint lock is described. The multipoint lock includes a main latch. The main latch has a latched position where the main latch is configured to extend a first distance from an unhinged edge of a door panel. The main latch is configured to be retractable toward the unhinged edge of the door panel by rotation of a latch drive hub in each of a clockwise direction and a counterclockwise direction relative to a first side of the door panel. The multipoint lock also includes at least one auxiliary latch and a deadbolt drive hub. Rotation of the deadbolt drive hub substantially simultaneously actuates the main latch and the at least one auxiliary latch.

Abstract: A multipoint lock for securing a door panel is described. The multipoint lock includes a first latch, a second latch, a first hub rotatable with at least one of a thumb-turn knob or a key, and a second hub rotatable with a handle lever.

Abstract: A threshold having a threshold cap. The threshold cap has an aperture through its top wall. The threshold also includes a pin capture positioned below the threshold cap and corresponding in location to the aperture. The pin capture is positioned to receive a pin passing through the aperture.

Abstract: Retainers for use within an astragal assembly as described. The astragal assembly has an astragal body with a major axis. The astragal assembly is for use in a double door entryway unit. The retainers include a retention portion configured to engage an entryway component and a mounting portion configured for placement onto the astragal body in a direction normal to the major axis. The retention portion is either a void for receiving at least one of a latch and a deadbolt, or the retention portion is a bolt pin configured to engage an entryway frame.

Abstract: A bolt assembly for securing a passive door panel relative to an entryway frame. The bolt assembly has a base to be fixedly mounted relative to the passive door panel, a catch attached to the base with a leaf spring to deflect relative to the base, and a bolt which is able to translate relative to the base between a retracted position and an extended position for securing the passive door panel. The bolt is biased toward the extended position and selectively maintained in the retracted position by the catch.

The threshold also includes a pin capture positioned below the threshold cap and corresponding in location to the aperture. The pin capture is positioned to receive a pin passing through the aperture.

Abstract: A sill pan is disclosed that is configured for use in spanning rough openings of various lengths. The sill pan includes a base, a pre-formed end flange integral with and extending upwardly from a side edge of the base, a first connector portion formed in the base adjacent to the pre-formed end flange, and a second connector portion formed in the base adjacent to an end opposite to the pre-formed end flange. The sill pan is configured be attachable to an adjacent sill pan with one of the first connector portion and the second connector portion.

Abstract: An astragal is described having a housing and a weather-strip extending along a length of the housing. An end cap is mounted to the housing. The end cap has a bottom wall positioned substantially horizontally along the bottom end of the housing. The bottom wall has an interior edge, an exterior edge opposite the interior edge, an upper surface, and a lower surface opposite the upper surface. At least one projection extends upwardly from the upper surface at a location along the upper surface closer to the interior edge than the exterior edge. The projection sized and positioned to project into the weather-strip and at least partially seal with a cavity opening at a lower end of the weather-strip.

Abstract: A doorsill having a substrate, a dam, and a sill deck is described. The dam is removably attached to the substrate to extend upwardly therefrom. The sill deck is removably attached to the substrate and removably attached to the dam. The dam has a vertical wall, and a lower portion of the vertical wall engages the substrate.

The doorsill has a substrate to be disposed above a subfloor and a lifter provided on the substrate capable of extending from a bottom of the substrate. The lifter is adjustable to change the orientation or position of the bottom relative to the subfloor.

Abstract: A shipping system for a pre-hung door having a door panel hinged to a frame. The shipping system includes a bracket configured to wrap at least partially around a portion of the frame, the bracket having a first leg for extending between the door panel and the frame. The first leg may include an opening passing therethrough. The opening is intended to align with an edge bore of the door panel and with a catch bore in the frame. The shipping system also includes a door plug for insertion into a face bore of the door panel to reside at least partially within the edge bore of the door panel. The door plug is designed to releasably engage the opening of the bracket by rotation of the door plug. The bracket is removable from the pre-hung door after the pre-hung door is installed in a rough opening.

Abstract: A spacer for sealing a joint between a first component and a second component of an entryway. The spacer may include substantially rigid support and a first gasket having a first uncompressed thickness (T1). The first gasket is attached to a first surface of the support. The first surface has at least one first boss extending therefrom by a distance (D1) such that (D1) is less than (T1). The at least one first boss is configured to abut a portion of the first component to provide the desired compression of the first gasket between the first component and the support.
