  • Publication number: 20060051498
Abstract: A device and a method are provided to form a film by discharging a liquid material with a liquid discharge head or the like, such as an ink jet head, and which can reduce the unevenness resulting from variation of the amount of the discharged liquid material. To provide a device and a method to form a film by discharging a liquid material and which can increase process efficiency while suppressing the increase of costs, even if the liquid material is discharged onto various objects. When a color filter is manufactured, nozzles of a liquid discharge head discharge filter element materials onto filter-element-forming regions. In this instance, one color of the filter element materials is discharged while the liquid discharge head is swept in the longitudinal direction of a mother substrate. The other colors are discharged while the liquid discharge head is swept in the width direction of the mother substrate.

  • Patent number: 7008282
Abstract: The invention provides a method enabling a display material including display elements introduced into divided regions with partition walls to be reclaimed, and a method for manufacturing a display using the method. The color filter substrate is immersed in a developer in the step for reclaiming the base. Alkali can be used as the developer that is capable of being used in the development process for forming the partition walls. The developer is not required to be the actual developer that is used for forming the partition walls. Vibration or stress is applied to the filter element as a display element using an ultrasonic cleaning bath in the step for immersing the base in the developer, and the filter element as a display element is peeled off. The base is washed with water thereafter, followed by drying to return the base to the color filter substrate forming step.

  • Publication number: 20050084777
Abstract: The invention makes it possible to adjust the color appearance for each display unit, e.g., each dot, in a color display obtained by using a color filter. A color filter includes a plurality of dot-shaped color films provided on a substrate. At least one of the dot-shaped color films includes a first film and a second film having different color properties, the second film being deposited on the first film. • Publication number: 20050008770
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a color filter substrate is provided. The method includes a step of forming banks, by which a plurality of display dot regions are formed on a base member, and a step of discharging a liquid filter material from nozzles to the plurality of display dot regions as liquid drops. In the step of discharging the material, the centers of the liquid drops of the filter material are situated within a distance which amounts to about 30% of the distance between the center of the display dot region and the edge of the display dot region closest to the center thereof. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the discharged liquid drops from invading adjacent display dot regions over the banks.

  • Publication number: 20050003283
Abstract: The invention makes uniform, in a plane, optical properties of optical members, such as the distribution properties of light transmission of a color filter, the color display properties of a liquid crystal device, and the light emission properties of an EL luminescent plane. During main scanning of color filter formation areas of a board in the X direction with an ink jet head having a nozzle row formed of a plurality of nozzles arranged in a row, a filter material is selectively discharged from the plurality of the nozzles to each of filer element areas arranged in a dot matrix to form filter elements, producing a color filter. First, the nozzle row is moved to positions “a” and “b” by main scanning in the X direction to enhance wettability of the surface of the areas and then main scanning is executed at each of the positions while successively moving the nozzle row to positions “c” through “k” by sub-scanning, thereby repeatedly discharging ink in the same portion of the areas.
