  • Publication number: 20050128381
Abstract: In order to suppress color tint during display of black, chromaticity is changed when black is displayed while maintaining chromaticity when white is displayed. For this purpose, the pigment to be dispersed in a color resist is adjusted in particle size and concentration. Such adjustment is so performed that the chromaticity difference between displayed white and black becomes 0.01 or smaller in the x-y chromaticity coordinates by varying the transmissivity of color pixels during display of black. With such a structure, successfully provided is a color liquid crystal display capable of preventing color tint in displayed black, while keeping white chromaticity at the desired level.

  • Publication number: 20040246424
Abstract: The generation of residues or flakes of a color filter is suppressed to eliminate conduction failures on an LCD substrate having a color filter on an array substrate. A passivation film formed between a pixel electrode formed in each of a plurality of pixel regions and a TFT for driving the pixel electrode has a multi-layer structure constituted by SiN layers and a SiO layers, and the SiO layer is located at the top of the film. A resin CF layer is formed on the passivation film having such a multi-layer structure. Since the resin CF layer is formed directly on the SiO layer, reduction of the adhesion of the same is suppressed. As a result, the color filter is unlikely to come off when the resin CF layer is formed, and residues of the color filter is unlikely to be generated when a contact hole is formed in the resin CF layer. This suppresses conduction failures and makes it possible to provide a reliable TFT substrate and LCD having high display characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20010026347
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention has a structure in which vertically aligned liquid crystal is sealed between a TFT substrate and a CF substrate. Pixel electrodes in which slits are provided are formed on the TFT substrate, while cell gap holding spacers and domain defining projections are formed on the CF substrate. For example, positive type photoresist is coated on a common electrode. Then, first exposure is executed by using a mask for light-shielding spacer forming regions and projection forming regions, and then second exposure is executed by using a mask for light-shielding the spacer forming regions. Then, the photoresist is developed. Accordingly, the spacers and the projections, each having a different height, can be formed simultaneously.
