  • Publication number: 20140267121
Abstract: A method for controlling an input from a user to a computerized system including a touchpad is presented. The method includes obtaining data from the touchpad. The data is associated with the location and movement of fingers and/or a hand of the user and not associated with an image of a first finger from an image sensor. The method further includes communicating the data from the touchpad to the computerized system and analyzing the data in accordance with a model of a human hand. The method further includes predicting the location of the first finger in accordance with the analyzed data and the location of at least a second finger and/or the hand. The second finger and/or the hand is touching the touchpad. The method further includes determining, using the model, that the first finger is positioned above but not touching a control region of the touchpad.

The data is associated with the location and force of a finger and/or a hand of the user upon the touchpad and not associated with an image of the finger from an image sensor, when the user operates the computerized system using the touchpad. The method further includes communicating the data from the touchpad to the computerized system and analyzing the data in accordance with a model of a human hand. The method further includes determining, using the model, that at least one finger of the user is touching a first control region of the touchpad using a first force.

Abstract: A method for controlling an input from a user to a computerized system including a touchpad is presented. The method includes obtaining data from the touchpad. The data is associated with the location and timed movement of a finger and/or a hand of the user and not associated with an image of the finger from an image sensor, when the user operates the computerized system using the touchpad. The method further includes communicating the data from the touchpad to the computerized system and analyzing the data in accordance with a model of a human hand. The method further includes determining, using the model, that at least one finger of the user is positioned above but not touching a first control region of the touchpad during a predetermined time window.

  • Publication number: 20130155070
Abstract: The present invention relates to a handheld computerized device with a bit mapped display screen on the front panel, and a touchpad installed in an alternative location. More particularly, the invention relates to a method and graphical user interface that can, for example, enable the user to see the user's finger position and motion from behind the device superimposed upon a virtual keyboard layout on the front panel. This can allow the user to use a touchpad keypad on the back of the device to input keystrokes and mouse actions, and these will be reflected on the display screen on the front of the handheld computerized device as “virtual fingers” or equivalent. The system operates by inputting touchpad data into a software biomechanical and anatomical model of the human hand, optionally supplemented by video or image information to refine this model.

  • Patent number: 8099415
Abstract: Job listings retrieved from external sources are pre-processed prior to being stored in the search engine production database and duplicate records identified prior to storage in a production database for the search engine. Inter-source and intra-source hash values are calculated for each job listing and the values compared. Job listings having the same intra-source hash are judged to be duplicates of each other. Descriptions whose intra-source hash values do not match, but whose inter-source hash values match are judged to be duplicate candidates and subject to further processing. Suffixes for each such record are stored to a data structure such as a suffix array and the records searched and compared based on the suffix arrays. Records having a pre-determined number of contiguous words in common are judged to be duplicates. Duplicate records are identified before the data set is stored to the production data base.

  • Patent number: 8027697
Abstract: Public safety access points are selected in a wireless network for E911 calls based on ESRD substitution when ESRKs are not being used. The present invention was conceived as an ESRK workaround solution to implement Phase II of the E911 rules from the starting point of a Phase I implementation. ESRKs, ESRDs or ESRVs are initially obtained and managed for each PSAP in a particular carrier's area. Then, Phase I processes are modified to wait to see if Phase II GSM location information will be reported in a timely manner (e.g., within a second or two or so) before committing to a default selection of a particular PSAP based on information available (e.g., based on the location of a serving cell site).

  • Publication number: 20100135336
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, an apparatus, and a system for synchronizing time, and relates to communication technologies. The method includes: receiving a time synchronization signal which includes a One Pulse Per Second (1PPS) and an absolute time data; and sending the time synchronization signals to the client through a wired medium to synchronize time. The apparatus includes a receiving module and a sending module. The system includes a time synchronization apparatus and a client. Time synchronization is implemented through an existing wired medium between base stations to accomplish ?s-level time synchronization between indoor base stations without extra cabling.

  • Patent number: 7582818
Abstract: A violin thumb pad that facilitates the optimal positioning of violin relative to the player's thumb supporting the violin neck, for teaching purpose and for increased comfort and reduced physical stress, is introduced. Assuming the violin player uses left hand to play the violin finger board, and used right hand to hold the bow, the violin thumb pad forces the left thumb and palm to turn towards the player so the player's fingers are inline with the violin string naturally. The violin thumb pad also forces the left thumb and to be comfortably straight. And it forces the left elbow to stay close with the player's body. The violin thumb pad also makes it easier to place the violin neck between the thumb and index finger and not letting the violin neck drop to the bottom of the thumb. The violin thumb pad comprises an elongated pad that has one side conformable to the thumb and one side conformable to the violin neck, and at least one harnesses or loops that fastens the pad to the thumb.

  • Patent number: 7512674
Abstract: A framework is disclosed which enables a management system to manage completely different type of network elements (NEs) running different versions of their embedded software by introducing generic operational interfaces, generic data interfaces, information descriptors and self adaptive control mechanism. This Management system framework consists of mainly two parts a) core application and b) element-dependent components and c) a set of generic interfaces. When the management system is launched, it executes the core application. The core application comprises of network element independent version independent generic functionalities that can be used to interact with a variety of network elements and a dynamic control mechanism to make selection and placement of pluggable components at appropriate time and place during execution.

  • Publication number: 20080065633
Abstract: A method of accumulating, processing, and classifying online job listings for searches by users. Job listings are automatically, and more effectively, categorized, allowing users to more quickly and easily search job listings. Also provided are expanded tools for more powerful job searching. First, online job listings are automatically accumulated and stored in a job database, such as by web crawlers or robots. The accumulated job listings are then “normalized,” i.e., additional metadata are appended to the stored job listings, which assists in both classifying jobs and in subsequent user searches. These normalized, or augmented, job listings are then classified into job categories by an automated classifier. Assigning jobs to categories in this manner allows for greater search functionality. For instance, users can search by job category, and find additional search terms via other jobs in the same category.
