Abstract: There is provided a cancer therapeutic instrument for use in treatment of cancer and tumor. According to such an instrument, the affected part is irradiated effectively with activation light thereby obtaining an effect of the light treatment. The cancer therapeutic instrument is equipped with a tube of which a tip is closed, a tip end of the tube being adapted to be inserted into a subject to be treated, and an optical fiber of which a tip end is adapted to be disposed slidably inside the tube.
Abstract: A mechanical thinning razor includes a shank, a handle, a blade, a bladeguard, a driving member and a sliding member. When pushing an external surface of the driving member toward a hollow midsection of the shank, the bevel of the driving member forces the sliding member to move longitudinally over a distance that corresponds to a width of exposed segments or non-exposed segments, thereby doubling the working life of the blade.
Abstract: There is provided a method of treating cancer. According to such a method, the affected tissue is irradiated effectively with activation light thereby obtaining an effect of the light treatment. The cancer therapeutic instrument used in the treatment method is equipped with a tube of which a tip is closed, a tip end of the tube being adapted to be inserted into a subject to be treated, and an optical fiber of which a tip end is adapted to be disposed slidably inside the tube.
Abstract: A fiber optic laser conducting probe is used for photodynamic therapy. In this fiber optic laser conducting probe, an optical fiber has an end used for conducting a pulse laser beam. The laser beam is conducted through the optical fiber and irradiated from the end. A end tip is made of polyamide resin. The end tip has a hollow portion, and is attached to the end of the optical fiber such that the pulse laser beam can be irradiated through the end of the optical fiber, through the hollow portion and through the end tip.
Abstract: A function designate method for designating a variety of functions to be performed by a control unit. The method includes the step of displaying graphic icons under ordinary circumstances, which are for designating a variety of functions to the control unit on a display device. The method further includes displaying character icons, each of which includes one of the graphic icons and one character for designating a key on a keyboard, when a predetermined control key has been pressed. Also, the method includes a graphic icon by a cursor or simultaneously pressing the control key and a key corresponding to a character displayed together therewith. Finally, the method includes designating a function that has been allocated to the graphic icon to the control unit.
Abstract: A tape feeding apparatus capable of feeding a tape laminate made by superposing a first tape having a first chemical material layer on one side and a second tape having a second chemical material layer on one side reacting with the first chemical material with the layers in contact with each other. When the chemical reaction occurs between them, the second chemical material layer exhibits an indication which is visually recognized. Rollers press the first tape drawn out from a first reel and the second tape drawn out from a second reel so that the first and second chemical material layers come in mutual contact, and form the tape laminate.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus which is suited for use by women, children and the like who have limited physical strength to continuously stamp embossed patterns with clear outlines with the same spacing. A press roller is provided with an embossed pattern stamping die on a circular external circumferential surface, with its rotating shaft supported by bearings at a specific position, and is caused to perform axial rotation by a rotating drive force applied from the outside. A receptacle portion faces opposite the external circumferential surface of the press roller, with its opposing surface constituted as a flat surface or a convex surface to form a gap between itself and the press roller where a sheet-like object to be stamped is to be inserted.
Abstract: A cancer diagnosis and treatment device comprising a solid-state laser generator such as an Nd-YAG laser, an alexandrite laser, or titanium sapphire laser for emitting a first laser beam having a first wavelength, a harmonic generator for generating higher harmonic laser beams of the first laser beam and outputting one of the higher harmonic laser beams, and an optical parametric oscillator for converting the harmonic laser beam outputted from the harmonic generator into second and third laser beams suitable for the cancer diagnosis and treatment, the second laser beam having a second wavelength stimulating a sterilizing photochemical reaction between the photosensitive material and the cancer foci to perform the cancer treatment and the third laser beam having a third wavelength inducing fluorescence inherent to the photosensitive material to enable the cancer diagnosis, an endoscope for guiding the second and third laser beams emitted from the laser beam source to the cancer foci and transmitting an image o
Abstract: One unit of image/text information (a card) is formed from image information, which is for displaying respective ones of N--number of images, and text information, and a large number of cards are stored in a memory device to construct a data base. When search conditions such as a desired keyword or numerical range have been entered, at least one card which satisfies the search conditions is searched and retrieved from the data base by referring to the text information of each card. First images from each of the cards retrieved are reduced in size and then combined, the reduced and combined images obtained are displayed on a display device, and a desired item of image/text information is selected from the reduced and combined images.
Abstract: An optical fiber laser device, used as a pulse laser device, has a spherical lens made of optical glass having a refractive index of 2 or less. The spherical lens is provided on an extreme end of an optical fiber which guides a pulse laser beam. An object side of the spherical lens is projected externally of a base housing the spherical lens therein.
Abstract: A cutter can rapidly and safely cut the edge of a variety of paper products and a variety of strings and other materials used for packaging. The cutter has a pair of holders laminated to each other, a pair of open-close bodies which are rotatably supported at edge portions of the holders, respectively and form a cutting area through which a paper product can be passed, and a cutting blade which is mounted to the edge portions of the holders and has a cutting edge protruding into the cutting area.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a closure cap having a liner. A mass of molten thermoplastic is positioned in the inner face of a cap shell. The mass is spread by a heated punch and the spread mass is then formed by a cooled punch to the final liner shape.
Abstract: A technique for monitoring the frequency difference between pulse output signals derived from a pair of flowmeters interposed respectively in the inlet and outlet lines of a flow conduit supplying cooling water to the tuyere of a blast furnace, the frequency difference being indicative of water leakage. The furnace has a plurality of such tuyeres, each conduit of which is monitored. The pulse output signals from the flowmeters at each monitoring point are fed to a common processing unit in which there are stored the constants representing the instrumental error between each pair of flowmeters as well as their mean conversion constants. In the processing unit, computations are carried out on the basis of the pulse output signals derived from each pair of flowmeters, the instrument error constant thereof and their mean conversion constants, in order accurately to determine the flow rate difference therebetween at each monitoring point independently of the instrumental error.
Abstract: A system for monitoring the frequency difference between pulse output signals derived from a pair of flowmeters interposed, respectively, in the inlet and outlet lines of a flow conduit supplying cooling water to the tuyere of a blast furnace, the frequency difference being indicative of water leakage. The pulse output signals produced by the respective flowmeters during each predetermined measuring period are integrated. The integrated values are compared with each other, the difference therebetween being monitored whereby when the difference exceeds a predetermined set value, an alarm is generated.
