  • Patent number: 6853748
Abstract: Adaptive luminance interpolation processing in a signal processing apparatus for acquiring an image signal from an image sensing element having color filters and processing the image signal is described. An adaptive luminance interpolation circuit determines the correlation of the image signal in the vertical and horizontal directions, and interpolates the luminance signal of the image signal in a direction in which the correlation is higher. The chroma signal of the image signal is interpolated regardless of the correlation direction. The chroma signal is processed by a color conversion matrix circuit for performing signal processing of suppressing a false color in the vertical direction or a color conversion matrix circuit for performing signal processing of suppressing a false color in the horizontal direction, switched by a matrix switching circuit based on the interpolation direction.

  • Publication number: 20030228037
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus is provided which performs correction of shading without performing correction of an image signal with a complicated algorithm or a large-scale correction circuit. The image pickup apparatus includes light irradiation unit that irradiates light on an object of image pickup and an image pickup element that receives reflected light or transmitted light from the object of image pickup to generate an electric signal corresponding to an amount of received light, in which a light receiving condition of a pixel of the image pickup element is changed such that shading of a signal from the image pickup element is corrected. The light receiving condition is changed by changing areas of opening portions of pixels 10-1 to 10-5 of the image pickup element, a shape of a lens provided on the opening parts, or an impurity concentration in a photoelectric conversion region of the image pickup element, or changing storage time, storing being performed through driving of the image pickup element.

  • Patent number: 6310572
Abstract: A series to parallel A/D type converter converts an analog input signal to a digital output signal. The A/D converter has an upper rank comparator which performs A/D conversion of upper order bits and a lower rank comparator which performs A/D conversion of lower order bits. An input control circuit receives the analog input signal and generates a first input signal which is provided to the upper rank comparator and generates a second input signal which is provided to the lower rank comparator. Both the upper and lower rank comparators receive the respective first and second input signal from the input control circuit and compare the respective input signals with predetermined reference voltages to generate a digital output signal.
