  • Publication number: 20050061050
Abstract: An annular excess portion is disposed, a spline forming male mold is passed through a boss of a sheet metal-made rotary member in which a root portion of the boss and a peripheral portion are previously displaced, and the boss is set to a stationary mold with being fitted into a boss fitting hole of a rotary member holding mold. Thereafter, the annular excess portion is clamped between a pressing mold and the stationary mold to be deformed into a flat shape, and the root portion of the boss is squeezed into spline forming grooves to be plastically deformed, thereby forming a boss spline. According to the configuration, increase in thickness os a sheet metal blank is avoided, the strength of the boss is ensured, and weight reduction is achieved. The production efficiency can be remarkably improved, and cutting chips are eliminated, so that adverse influence on the working environment can be avoided.

  • Publication number: 20040142230
Abstract: Conductive catalytic particles which are composed of a conductive powder and a catalytic material adhering to the surface thereof. The catalytic material is an alloy of a noble metal material with an additive material which is thermally solid-insoluble in said noble metal material, or an alloy of MI and MII (where MI denotes at least one species selected from noble metal elements, and MII denotes at least one specifies selected from Fe, Co, Ni, Cr, Al, Cu, Hf, Zr, Ti, V, Nb, Ta, W, Ga, Sn, Ge, Si, Re, Os, Pb, Bi, Sb, Mo, Mn, O, N, C, Zn, In, and rare earth elements). The conductive catalytic particles are produced by causing the noble metal material and the additive material or MI and MII to adhere at the same time to the surface of a conductive powder by physical vapor deposition. The conductive catalytic particles are not liable to sintering and are used for a gas-diffusing catalytic electrode and an electrochemical device provided therewith.

  • Patent number: 6484547
Abstract: In the present invention, a thin and disc-shaped blank made of steel plate is used. The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a sheet metal member comprising a circular base plate, and an annular projection bulged from at least one surface of the base plate so as to be concentric therewith, which can be easily and cheaply produced without loss of material, by only a few steps. A blank having an outer peripheral portion which has been thickened by a former step, is rotated while it is held between an upper and lower dies. At the same time, an edge angle portion of an outer peripheral surface of a drawing roller is pressed against one surface of the thickened outer peripheral portion which extrudes outwardly from the upper die of the blank, and the drawing roller is rotated, while it is moved in the direction of the center of the blank, and the thickened outer peripheral portion is drawn so as to make it think, thereby bulging the annular projection axially.

  • Patent number: 6457340
Abstract: In a sheet metal member having a boss which is obtained by the method of the present invention, a cylindrical portion is formed at an outer peripheral edge, thereby allowing the member to be used as a pulley for a flat belt, a V belt or a poly-V belt. According to the present invention, when the boss is to be formed, the positional accuracies of portions other than the boss with respect to the boss are improved. The present invention includes: a boring step of opening a circular hole in a circular blank; a curving step of shaping the circular blank into a projected shape; and a bending step of restricting a radially outward spread of an outer peripheral edge portion of the circular blank which has undergone the curving step, and bending an inclined portion between the outer peripheral edge portion of the circular blank and the circular hole into a recessed shape, thereby forming the case-like boss.

  • Patent number: 6381847
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a poly-V pulley made of metal sheet, which can be easily produced from a thick flat-plate material. By this method, the poly-V pulley is formed to have a two-part arrangement of poly-V grooves having different diameters, i e., a small diameter and a large diameter. A circular flat-plate material having a boss portion at the center thereof is bent, thereby forming a first forming body whose section is dish-shaped. The first forming body includes a supporting base and a conical peripheral portion consecutively disposed so as to be inclined and widened from the outer peripheral end of the supporting base portion in the outward direction. Next, the conical peripheral wall is extended in the widening end direction so as to decrease the thickness thereof, thereby forming a second forming body whose section is also deep dish-shaped.

  • Patent number: 6370776
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing a poly-V pulley which can economically produce a poly-V pulley of the type that is to be inserted and coupled onto a shaft via a one-way clutch or a bearing, the number of steps being as small as possible. A trunk is obtained by cutting a thick pipe blank into a fixed dimension. Thereafter, first and second preliminary ears are projectingly formed in the axial ends on the outer peripheral face of the trunk by pressing in which the axial end faces of the trunk are clamped between upper and lower dies respectively having annular wedge-like projections, and the wedge-like projections bite the axial end faces of the trunk. The first and second preliminary ears are shaped into first and second ears by rolling of a predetermined shape, and poly-V grooves are thereby formed.

  • Patent number: 6139457
Abstract: A sheet metal pulley has a base part and a cylindrical peripheral wall for winding a belt formed integrally with the base part. An ear is disposed in an end part of the cylindrical peripheral wall. The base part is partitioned into an inner peripheral portion and an outer peripheral portion, with the inner peripheral portion being smoothly connected with the outer peripheral portion through a bent part. The outer peripheral portion is formed into a tapered shape which extends from the bent part and has a diameter which is increased toward the inner side of the cylindrical peripheral wall in the axial direction of the pulley. The outer peripheral portion connected with an end part of the peripheral wall on the side of the ear. Even when the pulley is used for a long term, the connecting portion between the peripheral wall and the base part, etc. is hardly cracked.

  • Patent number: 6016602
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a sheet metal gear in which a metal sheet (2) is used as a starting material and a gear is formed in the outer peripheral edge of the metal sheet. The object of the production method is to finish easily and accurately pitches of valleys and peaks of the gear which is formed in a simple production facility. The time period required for completing the formation of the gear in the outer peripheral edge of the metal sheet is shortened, thereby enhancing productivity. According to the production method, in the initial preparation step, a number of places of the outer peripheral edge of the circular metal sheet (2) which are arranged with a regular pitch are punched out in the axial direction, thereby forming preliminary valleys and preliminary peaks. Then, the method transfers to a gear forming step.
