  • Publication number: 20210064013
Abstract: A scanner for image reconstruction of a structure of a target object uses a neural network trained to classify each segment of a sequence of segments of a modified wave into one or multiple classes. The sequence of segments corresponds to the sequence of layers of the target object, such that a segment of modified wave corresponds to a layer having the same index in the sequence of layers as an index of the segment in the sequence of segments. The scanner executes the neural network for each wave modified by penetration through the layers of the target object to produce the classes of segments of the modified waves. Next, the scanner selects the classes of segments of different modified waves corresponding to the same layer to produce an image of the layer of the target object with pixel values being functions of labels of the selected classes.

  • Patent number: 10795151
Abstract: An encoder of a terahertz (THz)-based absolute positioning system used for decoding patterns from THz-band measurements. The encoder includes a scale with a multi-layer reflective/transmissive structure having a matrix with rows. Each row of the matrix corresponds to a plurality of patterns, such that each pattern is used to form a measurement. An emitter emits a THz waveform to the scale. A receiver is used to measure amplitudes of the THz waveform reflected from the scale. A memory stores data including predetermined positions of the emitter based on the patterns of the layers from the scale. Wherein one or more processors can determine a position of the emitter from the measurements of the amplitudes received by the receiver, based on the stored data. An output interface can be used to render the position of the emitter.

  • Patent number: 10749554
Abstract: A communication system transmits an input block of bits over a communication channel using a prefix tree that maps a dyadic distribution of compositions of output symbols to prefixes of variable lengths. A path to each leaf of the prefix tree is defined by a prefix formed by a unique sequence of binary values of a length equal to a depth of the leaf. Each leaf is associated with a composition that has at least a number of unique permutations equals to two in a power of a length of a suffix of the block of input bits. The system selects a composition identified in the prefix tree by a prefix, permutes the selected composition according to a suffix, and transmits the permuted composition over a communication channel. The compositions are selected to reduce one or combination of energy and kurtosis of transmission.

  • Patent number: 10554309
Abstract: A method decodes an optical signal transmitted over an optical channel from a transmitter to a receiver. The method produces, from the transmitted optical signal, a digital signal including received data symbols and received pilot symbols and determines phase noise on the pilot symbols using a statistical probability distribution of phase noise on the optical channel and errors between phases of the received pilot symbols and the transmitted pilot signals. The method estimates phase noise on the data symbols using an interpolation of the phase noise on the pilot symbols and compensates the digital signal with the phase noise on the data symbols to produce a filtered signal with an equalized phase. The method demodulates and decodes the filtered signal to produce an estimate of the transmitted optical signal.
