  • Publication number: 20020178309
Abstract: Enabled is operation, including confirmation of the data content of a PC card on a display screen or outputting the data onto an output unit, according to the operation of another terminal unit connected to a network. A module to be removably inserted by a PC card and an output unit for displaying and printing input data are connected through an interface. The module and a terminal unit are connected for data transmission and reception through a communicating unit for communicating data on a predetermined communication protocol. By inserting the PC card in the module, the data of the PC card is converted into a data form to be data-processed on the output unit and into a data form suited for a communication protocol of the communicating unit.

  • Patent number: 6481200
Abstract: A catalyst warming apparatus for an internal combustion engine provides an appropriate combustible mixture for heating an exhaust-purifying catalyst disposed in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, without providing a special pre-mixing chamber for mixing fuel and air, by burning the combustible mixture in the exhaust passage upstream of the exhaust-purifying catalyst when the exhaust-purifying catalyst is inactive. Specifically, fuel components and air discharged from the internal combustion engine are mixed into a combustible mixture in a sub exhaust-purifying catalyst disposed in the exhaust passage upstream of a main exhaust-purifying catalyst, and the resultant combustible mixture is burned upstream of the main exhaust-purifying catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20020162324
Abstract: The present device for purifying the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine comprises a particulate filter 70 on which the trapped particulates are oxidized and reversing means 74 for reversing the exhaust gas upstream side and the exhaust gas downstream side of the particulate filter. The particulate filter has a trapping wall for trapping the particulates. The reversing means reverses the exhaust gas upstream side and the exhaust gas downstream side of the particulate filter so that the first trapping surface and the second trapping surface are used alternately to trap the particulates. The particulate filter has a first opening portion and a second opening portion through which the exhaust gas flows in and out from the particulate filter and is arranged in the exhaust pipe 71 upstream of the muffler. At least part of the circumferential portion of the particulate filter between the first opening portion and the second opening portion is in contact with the flow of the exhaust gas in the exhaust pipe.

  • Patent number: 6430204
Abstract: The semiconductor laser device has a stripe optical waveguide formed in its resonator structure. The stripe optical structure has right and left sides, which are different in shape from each other in its cross sectional view at a plane vertical to the substrate and parallel to the facets of the resonator structure. In addition, at least one of the right and left sides has concave and convex portions in the longitudinal direction in the top view thereof. The laser device can thus obtain high output characteristics stably without losing the fundamental characteristics, thereby solving the problems related to the instability of the laser light in the fundamental traverse-mode and obtaining an excellent linearity to correspond to a pulse current. Consequently, the semiconductor laser device is applicable as a light source for a highly practical optical information processing system having a fast responsibility to the pulse current waveform from the driving power supply of an optical disk drive unit.

  • Patent number: 6408157
Abstract: According to this invention, correction values based on the phase differences of speed changes in one rotation of the photosensitive drums that are determined based on uniform-density halftone bands for respective colors recorded on a recording medium are set in a 4-drum tandem type full-color copying machine. The rotational speeds of the photosensitive drums are increased or decreased on the basis of the correction values, thereby locking the phases of speed changes in one rotation of the photosensitive drums. This can solve a problem that the periods of rotational variations of the photosensitive drums differ from each other to generate large image misalignment in the 4-drum tandem type full-color copying machine. By locking the phases of the periods of rotational variations of the photosensitive drums, image misalignment can be minimized and reduced.
