  • Publication number: 20050167225
Abstract: A friction clutch has a plurality of iron inner clutch plates and a plurality of iron outer clutch plates. Both the clutch plates have sliding surfaces which are friction-engaged each other. A thin carbon film in a diamond form, which functions as a solid lubricant, is formed on each of the sliding surfaces of the outer clutch plates by a known method such as the Chemical Vapor Deposition method. A known nitride treatment or quenching and tempering treatment is applied to the sliding surfaces of the inner clutch plates. A coupling device has a pilot clutch mechanism with the friction clutch and an electromagnetic actuator. As a result, the friction clutch is resistant to wear and the coupling device is excellent in durability.

  • Publication number: 20030217904
Abstract: A friction clutch includes an iron inner clutch plate and two iron outer clutch plates. Each clutch plate has a sliding surface that friction-engages with the other clutch plates. A diamond-like carbon film containing silicon, which functions as a solid lubricant, is formed on the sliding surface of each outer clutch plate through a conventional method such as plasma chemical vapor deposition. The diamond-like carbon film contains 1 wt % to 80 wt % of silicon. A coupling device includes a pilot clutch mechanism that has the friction clutch and an electromagnetic actuator. As a result, the friction clutch has an improved resistance to wear, and the coupling device is durable.

  • Patent number: 5954173
Abstract: There is disclosed a drive force transmission apparatus which includes a first pressing-force generation unit for generating a pressing force in accordance with a rotational speed difference between driving and driven shafts, and a frictional clutch which is brought into an engaged state by the pressing force generated by the first pressing-force generation unit in order to transmit torque in accordance with the rotational speed difference between the driving and driven shafts. The drive force transmission apparatus further includes a second pressing-force generation unit disposed opposite to the first pressing-force generation unit with respect to the frictional clutch. When needed, the second pressing-force generation, unit is operated to bring the frictional clutch into a firmly engaged state, thereby improving the traveling performance of the vehicle under severe traveling conditions, such as an attempt to extract a wheel trapped in a gutter or the like, traveling on a rough road, traveling on sand, etc.

  • Patent number: 5305858
Abstract: A rotary shock absorber suitable for use in a suspension system of a vehicle. The shock absorber is provided with a housing and a rotary shaft supported by the housing for relative rotation thereto. A pressure chamber is formed in the housing and a rotor having a pair of blades is received within the pressure chamber. Further, a pair of partition walls are formed within the pressure chamber to define first and second chambers at both sides of each blade, and the first and second chambers are communicated with each other through throttles. When the rotary shaft is rotated, a high viscous fluid filled within the first and second chambers flows therebetween through the throttles. Due to the flow resistances of the throttles, pressures are generated in the first or second chambers. This pressure generation is used to generate a damping force.

  • Patent number: 5031743
Abstract: In a driving power transmission, an input shaft is coaxially rotatably carried in a closed cylinder housing, extending through an operating piston received therein. The operating piston is bodily rotatable with the housing and axially movable relative to the housing and the input shaft. The piston defines at opposite ends thereof a clutch chamber and an axially thin circular space. A multiple disc clutch operable by the piston is provided in the clutch chamber for selectively transmitting a torque from the input shaft to the housing acting as an output shaft. A rotor with diametrically opposite blades is received within the axially thin circular space and is rotatable bodily with the input shaft for compulsorily displacing silicon oil filled in the circular space, so as to generate a pressure therein when relative rotation occurs between the housing and input shaft.
