Abstract: A liquid storing container employable for an ink jet recording apparatus includes a housing, a storing area containing a porous ink absorbing member, a valve mechanism, a filter in contact with the porous member, and a stopper. The liquid storing container is detachably connected to an ink jet recording head, where the valve mechanism allows an outflow of ink to the ink jet head through the joint portion when connected to an ink feed pipe, and closes the joint portion when disconnected from the ink feed pipe.

Abstract: A mounting method of an ink container to an ink jet unit mountable to an ink jet recording apparatus, wherein the ink container is mounted while a corner portion of the ink container between a top surface and a rear side is slid in contact with an urging member and while a corner portion of the ink container between a front side and a bottom side is slid toward a front side of the ink jet unit in contact with an inner bottom surface of the ink jet unit.

Abstract: An ink jet unit to which an ink container is detachably mountable, and which is further mountable to an ink jet recording apparatus so as to effect ink jet recording. The ink jet unit includes an ink jet head for ejecting ink for recording, an ink supply tube for receiving ink from the ink container and being provided at a bottom portion of the ink jet unit in fluid communication with the ink jet head, and an opening for permitting mounting of the ink container thereto. The opening is formed continuously, in such sides of the ink jet unit as take top and front positions when the ink jet unit is mounted to the ink jet recording apparatus. A cover is provided, at the top side of the ink jet unit.

Abstract: An ink container for storing ink and an ink jet apparatus having such an ink container is provided. The ink container has an ink tank providing an enclosed space within an inner wall of the tank. The ink container is filled with inner and outer porous members having open pores for holding ink. The inner porous members are disposed within the enclosed space so as to only contact and press against other inner or outer porous members or both. The outer porous members are disposed within the enclosed space so as to contact and press against the inner porous members and the inner wall of the ink tank. This arrangement of inner and outer porous members within the ink container prevents an uneven compression distribution which occurs when conventional porous members are inserted into ink containers or when ink containers containing such conventional porous members suffer impacts.

The liquid storing container provides for controlled feeding of liquid through a contact portion where the filter compresses the porous member, and a proper balance of air and liquid is achieved by symmetrical surfaces located within the receiving case.

Abstract: An ink cartridge detachably mountable to an ink jet recording apparatus, the ink cartridge containing ink to be supplied to a recording head includes an ink container for containing the ink; and an adaptor having a receptor for detachably receiving the ink container and an information medium for storing information relating to the ink, the information being transmitted to the ink jet recording apparatus when the ink cartridge is mounted therein.
