Abstract: A replaceable ink cartridge can be inserted into and removed from a bubble jet printer receptacle for removably mounting the cartridge. The cartridge when mounted will cooperate with a hollow needle for supplying liquid ink to a print head and a pipe for removing waste ink from the head. The cartridge includes a container, a liquid ink reservoir and an absorber for waste liquid ink in the container, an outlet and an opening on the front wall of the container, and a label secured to the top wall of the container. The label contains a surface wiring resistance pattern including contact portions which are spaced apart and have an electric connection between them. When the container is mounted in the receptacle, the needle enters the outlet to connect the ink reservoir to the head, and the absorber enters a waste ink pipe opening. The contact portions then make sliding contact with spaced-apart electric terminals in the printer, connecting the terminals and thereby activating a control circuit in the printer.

Abstract: An ink container includes a container body and a movable wall movable along an inside surface of the container body. The movable wall comprising has a sealing portion in sealing contact with the inside surface of the container body and at least one tilt preventing portion for preventing the movable wall from tilting. The tilt preventing portion is spaced from the sealing portion.

Abstract: A recording ink container having an air vent valve including a supporting means with a first opening, a first thin film with a second opening for covering the first opening, a second thin film for covering the second opening, and sealing means between the thin films. The valve functions to release air from the container through the first opening, and to permit the introduction of air into the container through the second opening with pressures of predetermined levels.

Abstract: A liquid container includes a plurality of chambers, a liquid supply port provided in one of the chambers, an air vent provided in another one of the chambers and a continuous liquid supply material. Adjacent chambers are in fluid communication with each other only through the liquid supply material.

Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus is designed to prevent leakage of ink from an ink tank cartridge with recording ink stored therein when the cartridge is removed. A flexible ink bag is sandwiched between an upper plate and a lower plate so that the-upper plate can be moved as the ink bag contracts as the ink is consumed. When the ink is almost gone, the upper plate is held by a latch on the lower plate, and movement of the ink bag is suppressed. Leakage of ink from a stopper that provides access to the ink bag is prevented by sealing members on the upper and lower plates. Thus, when the cartridge is replaced, no ink will be applied.
