  • Patent number: 5106076
Abstract: In a sorter controller in which a plurality of sheets fed from the copying machine are separately placed in a plurality of sort bins, the preset copy number is inputted by the operation of an operation panel provided on the copying machine, and a number m of groups of sheets to be placed in a sort bin is calculated by m=INT(N/n), where INT represents a function for obtaining the integer of the number in the parenthesis and N represents the number of sheets that can be placed in a sort bin. When m.gtoreq.2, the sort bin in which the copied sheets are placed is changed every time n.times.m sheets are placed in a sort bin. According to such feature, the copied sheets of an original never be separately placed in a plurality of sort bins, and further, the available sort bins are effectively used.

  • Patent number: 4996683
Abstract: An optical transmission device for interconnecting an optical full duplex transmission line and a half duplex transmission line. When a start bit of a data block of an electrical signal received from the half duplex transmission line is detected, a maintaining signal to maintain the same transmission direction is generated during which the data block can be transmitted. An optical signal is received from the optical full duplex transmission line and converted into an electrical signal. Similarly, a maintaining signal to maintain the same transmission direction is generated. In response to either one of the two maintaining signals, passage or stopping of signals by a driver for sending out an electrical signal to the half duplex transmission line and a receiver for receiving an electrical signal from the half duplex-transmission line are controlled. Possible interference of data is prevented and the transmission direction is changed over in this manner.

  • Patent number: 4935745
Abstract: A slot antenna is integrated with and forms part of the housing for a miniature radio receiver having dimensions comparable to the dimensions of a credit card. The antenna is formed by three plates arranged to have a generally U-shaped cross section. One plate is on one side of and is approximately the dimensions of the "credit card" receiver. A second plate is much more narrow and extends along one edge of the other side of the "credit card" receiver in a spaced parallel relationship with the first plate. The third plate extends vertically between the first two plates and along the one edge of the "credit card" receiver. Together, the three plates make up not only the antenna, but also three sides of the housing of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 4870403
Abstract: A paging receiver is capable of receiving message data. The receiver includes a data set and a hold circuit, the output logic of which is inverted in response to the detection of a control signal which follows a paging number individually assigned to that receiver. The receiver is inhibited and excluded from or enabled and restored into a data service which is provided in response to a common or group call number for paging many and unspecified receivers. The inhibit or enable signal is provided by the output of the data set and hold circuit. The data set and hold circuit are powered by a power source which is different from a main power source of the receiver. The receiver determines whether or not the power source associated with the data set and hold circuit is present and, if it is not present, the receipt of the data service based on the common number is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 4857911
Abstract: In a multifunctional pager receiver comprising a processing circuit (30) operable in a plurality of modes of operations, each mode is selected by manual switches (51, 62-64) smaller in number than the modes. A combination of successive manual operations of the switches changes the modes from an intermediate one to a final one. At least one of the switches is operated plural times. An operation announcement is stored in a message processor (32) included in the processing circuit and displayed in the intermediate mode on a display unit (71) so as to specify the following modes to be selected. A plurality of message signals are stored in a random access memory included in the message processor. A part of each stored message is successively and rapidly displayed on the display unit. A decoder cooperates with the message processor in the processing circuit to detect a call number signal assigned to the pager receiver and delivers a sequence of clocks to the message processor.

  • Patent number: 4855731
Abstract: In a pager receiver having a display unit and carrying out operations in relation to each of previous and current messages stored in an RAM, only reception of the current message is indicated by an optical indicator included in the display unit when each operation is being carried out in relation to the previous message. The current message is displayed on an LCD of the display unit after completion of each operation related to the previous message. The previous message can completely be displayed without sudden interruption which may occur on reception of the current message. Each message is stored in an assigned sector set of the RAM with the number of the assigned sector set kept in an assigned file of the RAM. The number of the assigned file is monitored by a CPU to readily erase or protect each message.

  • Patent number: 4839641
Abstract: In a pager receiver operable in response to a call signal comprising a first part including a call number signal, a second part including a message signal, and an intermediate part placed between the first and second parts, the intermediate part conveys a time interval signal representative of a length of a message carried by the message signal. When the call number signal is destined to the pager receiver, a receiving circuit is put into an operating mode during the length of the message. Otherwise, the receiving circuit is kept in a nonoperating mode during the length of the message. The time interval signal is therefore detected even when the call number signal is not destined to the pager receiver. The intermediate part may comprise a message control signal defining message control operations of the pager receiver and a time signal for specifying a transmission time instant of the message signal. A wide variety of the message control operations can be designated by the messagew control signal.

  • Patent number: 4779091
Abstract: A radio pager receiver has a memory with a message area, and an additional area and a message processor for processing a message signal into messages and to store the messages in the message area. A specific datum is written (S6) in the additional area by the message processor. Although the message processor and the memory are activated by main electric power of a power supply circuit, only the memory is backed up by backup electric power of a backup power source. When the memory and the message processor are activated after once deactivated, the message processor judges (S2) whether or not the specific datum is correctly kept. The message processor controls display (S3 and S4) of a result of judgement. In the message area and the additional area, entries may be erased (S8) by the message processor when the specific datum is not correctly kept.
