  • Patent number: 9165525
Abstract: In an intermittent drive mode of a display device in which driving and pausing of the driving are repeated, an image identification section identifies an input image as a still image or a moving image. In a case where the moving image is identified, a drive/pause control section generates a drive/pause control signal with a period ratio in accordance with the moving image. A timing control section generates a driver control signal so that intermittent driving is carried out. Then, a source driver and a gate driver drives a display section so that the drive period and the pause period are repeated with a predetermined period ratio, so that the input image is displayed. The drive/pause control section sets a time ratio between the drive period and the pause period to be variable for each of the moving image and the still image.

  • Patent number: 9076405
Abstract: A display device includes a signal line drive circuit provided with an analog amplifier through which a stationary electric current flows. The display device further includes a control signal output section which suspends operation of the analog amplifier during a period (non-scanning period) from an start time after application to a data signal line S(i) of a voltage necessary for display is completed in a horizontal period to an end time in the horizontal period. The control signal output section sustains an AMP_Enable signal through which the analog amplifier is controlled at an L value (a low value) in the non-scanning period. As a result, stationary electric current flowing through the analog amplifier is cut off in the non-scanning period. According to this, the display device allows for reduction of electric power consumption while being capable of displaying a moving image without causing flickering.

  • Publication number: 20150116300
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a display device which includes a power supply circuit capable of supplying a current necessary for driving a large or high-definition display panel for example, and also is suitable in low power consumption configurations implemented by intermittent driving for example. A DC-DC converter (600) generates a supply voltage VPW1, etc. for supplying to a drive circuit (500), by converting a voltage level through an operation of a switching element which changes an electric current passing through an inductor. A mode control signal Cm is generated in a power supply control section (220) of the display control circuit (200), and is supplied to the DC-DC converter (600), whereby the DC-DC converter (600) is operated in a PFM control mode during a period when a load condition is light such as during a non-refreshing period in an intermittent driving, whereas the mode is changed to a PWM control mode in the other periods.

  • Publication number: 20150035815
Abstract: In one or more example embodiments, a display controller includes a stable pixel writing period in one horizontal period in a display device, the stable pixel writing period being a period during which a voltage outputted from a gate driver is at a high level. The display controller also includes a first stable pixel writing period determination circuit which determines, by using a reference signal independent from the frame rate in the display device, the stable pixel writing period during which the voltage is at the high level. Thus, the display controller can be provided in which, regardless of whether and how the frame rate is changed, the stable pixel writing period can be of a target length.
