  • Publication number: 20140028657
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide (i) a display device which, during a display of a moving image and a still image, reduces electric power consumption without causing a deterioration in display quality, and (ii) a method for displaying the display device. In an intermittent drive mode in which driving and a pause of the driving are repeated, an image identification section (6) identifies an input image (image data (DA)) as a still image or a moving image. In a case where the input image is identified as the moving image, a drive/pause control section (7) generates a drive/pause control signal (DSC) in accordance with a period ratio which is in accordance with the moving image. A timing control section (8) generates a driver control signal so that intermittent driving is carried out.

  • Patent number: 8363070
Abstract: Correction data tables or look up tables (LUTs) are stored in a table memory. When an overshoot calculation section switches an active LUT, the overshoot calculation section obtains the new active LUT not out of an external memory but out of the table memory. A table managing section deletes, from the internal memory, LUTs to which the new active LUT does not switch over directly, for example non-adjacent LUTs, meanwhile the table managing section obtains a new adjacent LUT from the external memory so as to store the new adjacent LUT in the table memory. With the arrangement, it becomes possible for a drive circuit to (i) operate at the same processing speed as a drive circuit in which all tables are stored in the internal memory, and simultaneously, (ii) reduce the amount of memory.

  • Publication number: 20130009935
Abstract: A display device includes a signal line drive circuit provided with an analog amplifier through which a stationary electric current flows. The display device further includes a control signal output section which suspends operation of the analog amplifier during a period (non-scanning period) from an start time after application to a data signal line S(i) of a voltage necessary for display is completed in a horizontal period to an end time in the horizontal period. The control signal output section sustains an AMP_Enable signal through which the analog amplifier is controlled at an L value (a low value) in the non-scanning period. As a result, stationary electric current flowing through the analog amplifier is cut off in the non-scanning period. According to this, the display device allows for reduction of electric power consumption while being capable of displaying a moving image without causing flickering.
