  • Patent number: 6088272
Abstract: A memory system includes a plurality of output buffers each of which outputs one of a plurality of one-bit signals forming data. The output buffers are put into a plurality of buffer groups. The memory system further includes a controller for feeding timing signals to the corresponding buffer groups via delay circuits having mutually different time constants, respectively. The timing signals include certain timing which causes the output buffers to output the corresponding one-bit signals. Since the foregoing certain timing is delayed depending on the time constants of the delay circuits, although the output buffers in the same buffer group output the corresponding one-bit signals simultaneously, the output buffers in the different buffer groups output the corresponding one-bit signals with mutually different timing.

  • Patent number: 5983289
Abstract: A data transfer controller transfers data in blocks having a restricted set of permitted sizes. Before transferring each block, the data transfer controller performs a segmented comparison on the current data address, at which the block starts, and a stopping address, at which the entire data transfer will end, and determines the block size from the result of the segmented comparison. In the segmented comparison, the data transfer controller compares a first part of the data address with a first part of the stopping address, then compares a second part of the data address with a second part of the stopping address. The comparison of second parts is made in different ways, depending on the result of the comparison of first parts.

  • Patent number: 5818488
Abstract: Bit data of a received video signal is partially converted into a first signal representing a data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The remaining bit data of the received video signal, which are not converted into the first signal are converted into a second signal representing another data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The LED head includes a resolution conversion circuit which converts the video data into the first signal and the second signal. The signals are stored in a shift register having a plurality of line buffers. The first signal is printed on a basic raster line and the second signal is printed on an additional raster line. An LED head drive energy with which basic raster lines are printed and another LED head drive energy with which additional raster lines are printed are set independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 5802587
Abstract: A memory controller has an address counter, a control circuit, and registers for receiving and storing a starting address, a block fetch size value, and write data. The address counter counts from the starting address, thereby generating successive addresses from which data in a memory device are read. When the amount of data designated by the block fetch size value has been read, the control circuit reloads the starting address into the address counter, the address counter generates the same successive addresses again, and the write data are written at these addresses. A block read-and-clear or block read-and-replace operation is thereby carried out. The memory controller may also have registers for storing the read data, and a logic operation circuit for combining the read and write data to carry out a block read-modify-write operation.

  • Patent number: 5751328
Abstract: Bit data of a received video signal is partially converted into a first signal representing a data sequence corresponding to the resolution of an LED head. The first signal is transmitted to the LED head in the form of a real printing data signal that is to be printed on a basic raster line in synchronism with a line timing signal. The remaining bit data of the received video signal, which are not converted into the first signal, are converted into a second signal representing another data sequence, and then stored in a line buffer. The second signal stored in the line buffer is transmitted to the LED head in the form of a real printing data signal that is to be printed on an additional raster line in synchronism with an additional line timing signal. The LED head drive energy with which the basic raster lines are printed and another LED head drive energy with which the additional raster lines are printed are set independently of each other. The LED head may be provided with such a resolution function.

  • Patent number: 5722010
Abstract: A sensor detects the leading edge of the print medium. A position counter counts a time length required for the print medium to advance from where the print medium is detected by the sensor to the photosensitive drum. The position counter also counts a time length for the print medium to advance past the photosensitive drum. The distance of the toner image from the leading edge of the print medium is determined on the basis of the image data of print data. A row counter counts the number of dots in a direction in which the print medium is transported and a column counter counts the number of dots in a direction perpendicular to the direction the print medium is transported. The distance between the first line of an image data and the line in which a first dot to be printed in the image data is determined on the basis of the contents of the column counter and the row counter.

  • Patent number: 5574884
Abstract: A DRAM control circuit according to the present invention, comprising a DRAM, a DRAM controller adapted for receiving an address, write data, and a data rewrite command from a host controller and designating a row address and a column address to the DRAM, and a column address strobe signal control circuit, causes pseudo column address strobe signal DCASq-N to have "L" level to read the contents of the address when column address strobe signal DCAS-N and read signal RD-N have "L" level, causes pseudo column address strobe signal DCASq-N to have "H" level to set an input/output terminal I/O to high impedance when the read signal RD-N has "H" level, further causes pseudo write signal WR-q to have "L" level to output write data to a data bus when the input/output terminal I/O remains at the high impedance, and rewrites the contents of the address to the write data when the pseudo column address strobe signal DCASq-N is caused to have "L" level.

  • Patent number: 5250813
Abstract: A print paper detecting circuit for installation on a printer, to detect whether a print paper is supplied at a predetermined position along a paper path by using an optical sensor composed of a light emitting diode and phototransistor. The circuit detects the existence of the print paper according to the detection of light which is emitted from the light emitting diode, which is reflected from the print paper, and which arrives at the phototransistor. According to one embodiment, circuit has a current amplifier and a gain reducing circuit. The current amplifier feeds a pulse current which is greater than the normal constant current to the light emitting diode while the gain reducing circuit reduces the output of the output voltage.

  • Patent number: 5216348
Abstract: A method of controlling a stepping motor for supplying a drive current to each of the phase windings thereof in response to control signals. The control signals are formed by combining logically phase exciting signals and overdrive signals in synchronization with a clock pulse signal. Each of the overdrive signals also includes a pulse with a longer width at an earlier stage of a phase exciting duration during which a drive current flows in the stepping motor and a pulse with a shorter width at a later stage of the phase exciting duration. Hence, a small drive current flows in the phase windings after a later stage of the exciting duration, thus reducing power consumption.

  • Patent number: 5207517
Abstract: In a method of compression of a dot pattern which is arranged in such a manner that two or more printing dots are not adjacent in a main scanning direction, the pattern is compressed and stored in a memory, while data read out from the memory is subjected to an expansion processing to obtain the original dot pattern, so that when a printing is performed, dummy printing dots are inserted into rows of the printing dots arranged in the main scanning direction in such a manner that columns of the printing dots arranged in a subscanning direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction. The dot pattern is compressed based on the columns of the printing dots and associated information indicating repetition of the disposition, and then stored in the memory.
