  • Patent number: 4990311
Abstract: An apparatus and method for deodorizing a gas mixture including air and a malodorous substance having a flow passage for the gas mixture and a fan for inducing air flow in a predetermined direction through the passage. An ultraviolet lamp for generating uv rays below a critical wavelength is in the flow passage for generating ozone from the air in the gas mixture. An ozone-decomposing catalyst layer is in the passage for contacting the gas mixture, and an ozone-decomposing ultraviolet lamp for generating uv rays above critical wavelength is positioned to irradiate the layer directly. The intensity of the radiation of the two layers is controlled to avoid the discharge of ozone from the downstream end of the passage.

  • Patent number: 4899930
Abstract: A temperature controller for automobile air conditioner comprises first computation means which calculates, in correspondence to each delivered air temperature, a unit variation of heat exchange output required to vary the temperature of air delivered by the air conditioner by a unit temperature difference, a second computation means which calculates the amount of variation of heat exchange output, which is required to bring the delivered air temperature close to a target temperature, based on the target temperature, the detected temperature and the unit variation, and control means which controls the heat exchange output intermittently in compliance with the amount of variation evaluated by the second computation means.

  • Patent number: 4884162
Abstract: A method and apparatus prevents the overheating of a line feed motor used in a printer. First and second timers are respectively provided to measure first and second time intervals. The second time interval includes a cessation period in which the line feed motor is not driven to allow for heat dissipation of the line feed motor. At the end of the first time interval, a determination is made as to whether the number of line feed pulses during the first time interval exceeds a predetermined limit. If the number of line feed pulses does not exceed the predetermined limit, the first time is reactivated. If the number of line feed pulses does exceed the predetermined limit, then the second timer is activated to allow for heat dissipation of the line feed motor.

  • Patent number: 4852798
Abstract: The present invention relates to an air conditioning apparatus equipped with upper and lower air mix doors and mode doors. In the present invention, the air flow volume distribution of the upper and lower blow ports is controlled continuously by regulating the opening degrees of the mode doors by one actuator controlled by instruction signal of a control device through a side link having cams corresponding to the number of the mode doors with respect to the outdoor temperature and quantity of solar radiation. The desired air discharge temperature is controlled by regulating the opening degrees of the upper and lower air mix doors by the instruction of the control device corresponding to the outdoor temperature and quantity of solar radiation.

  • Patent number: 4842829
Abstract: A deodorizing apparatus adapted to be placed in an enclosure to deodorize the bad smelling components of the foul air within the enclosure. The body has an interior free space and a ozone-decomposing layer. Ozone is generated within the free space and flows in contact with the layer so that it is decomposed before it can leave the body. The ozone is formed either by silent (corona) discharge or by ultraviolet radiation in the free space, and the energy supplied is sufficient to cause the ozone to flow outwardly into contact with the layer and to draw in foul air through the layer so that the decomposing ozone effectively deodorizes by oxidation the bad smelling components. The flow through the device is sufficient to deodorize the entire enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4791981
Abstract: An air conditioning apparatus of an air mix type for automotive vehicles has two air conditioning mechanisms which are provided for an upper air outlet and a lower air outlet, respectively. The upper air outlet is split into a vent outlet and a defroster outlet, and a defroster/vent change-over door is mounted at the upper air outlet to switch the same between the defroster outlet and the vent outlet so that when one is open, the other is closed. A communication passageway is provided in the apparatus to connect the lower air outlet to the defroster outlet. A defroster door is mounted in the communication passageway to open and close the same so that part of the conditioned air at the lower air outlet can be transferred to the defroster outlet to ensure blow of conditioned air both through the defroster outlet and the vent outlet.
