  • Patent number: 6063355
Abstract: A method of treating wastes includes partially combusting the wastes in a fluidized bed reactor at a relatively low temperature followed by separate gasification of gaseous material and char from the first gasification in a separate relatively high temperature reactor. • Patent number: 5980858
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating wastes by two-stage gasification recovers metals or ash content in the wastes in such a state that they can be recycled, and gases containing carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen gas (H.sub.2) for use as synthesis gas for ammonia (NH.sub.3) or production of hydrogen gas. The wastes are gasified in a fluidized-bed reactor at a low temperature. Then, gaseous material and char produced in the fluidized-bed reactor are introduced into a high-temperature combustor, and gasified at a high temperature and ash content is converted into molten slag. After water scrubbing and a CO conversion reaction, the gas is separated into H.sub.2 and residual gas. The residual gas is then supplied to the fluidized-bed reactor as a fluidizing gas.

  • Patent number: 5958122
Abstract: A printing apparatus in which metered amounts of an ink and a diluting solution are mixed and the resulting mixed liquid is ejected to a recording medium for printing. Specifically, the ink and the dilution liquid at least containing a water-soluble organic solvent are mixed together in respective metered amounts and the resulting liquid mixture is ejected to the recording medium. The water-soluble organic solvent desirably contains the aliphatic monohydric alcohol, a polyhydric alcohol or its derivatives. The dilution liquid may contain a non-water-soluble organic solvent or a dispersion medium composed of water and a non-water-soluble resin. An OH-group containing resin and a cross-linking agent are desirably contained in the non-water-soluble resin. Ink fixing properties for a picture recorded by discharging the liquid mixture of the ink and the dilution liquid may be improved, while suppression of bleeding in the picture and improved discharging stability are also achieved.

  • Patent number: 5393725
Abstract: A thermal transfer system comprises, in combination, an ink ribbon which has an ink layer containing a dye and a printing sheet having an image-receiving layer. In the system, when the ink layer is heated in an imagewise pattern, the dye in the ink layer is melted or sublimated and transferred to the image-receiving layer in the imagewise pattern. The dye in the ink layer is selected from the group consisting of disazo dyes, isothiazole azo dyes and mixtures thereof and the image-receiving layer comprises a cellulose ester resin. The printed matter obtained has good light fastness and fading resistance in the dark comparable to silver salt photographs. The ink ribbon and the printing sheet are also provided, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5035530
Abstract: Disclosed is an actuator comprising a plate-shaped output member including a shape memory alloy, which is disposed between two bodies capable of relative movement. The output member comprises a shape memory alloy having such shape memory characteristics that a wave plate shape having at least one wave which extends in the direction orthogonal to the line connecting the attachment ends of the output member to be attached to the two bodies is formed in a specific temperature region. By utilizing the force of the output member for restorign the memorized shape in this specific temperature region, relative movement is caused between the two bodies constructing an articulated arm. The two bodies are turnably supported on a shaft and the above-mentioned actuator is arranged in the state set off from one side relatively to a plane including this shaft so that two bodies are relatively turned around this shaft.

  • Patent number: 4852696
Abstract: An elevator information device is disclosed. The elevator information device has displays located in each hall of a building, each of which can display the service state of the elevator (information on arrival of a car, number of passengers in the car, floors at which the car is about to stop, waiting time, position of the car) by means of pictures and characters, whereby waiting passengers can easily understand the condition of the elevator. As a result, the waiting passengers do not feed uncomfortable due to confusion, impatience or distrustfulness. Consequently, the waiting passengers can be guided smoothly.
