Patent number: 5408334Abstract: A job control terminal creates a unit configuration table indicating the configuration of units connected to each of a plurality of processors in a multi-processor system. The job control terminal also creates an operating state table indicating an operating state of each processor including a CPU using ratio, I/O using ratio, memory using ratio, response time, and so on. When the job control terminal receives electronic mail for requesting job execution from a user through an electronic mail terminal, the job control terminal selects a processor assigned to execute the requested job based on the unit configuration table and the operating state table. When it is determined from the states of the processors that the requested job cannot be executed, information indicating that the job is unacceptable is transmitted from the job control terminal to the electronic mail terminal.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1993Date of Patent: April 18, 1995Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd., Hitachi Electronics Services Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tadashi Yamagishi, Masahiko Ishimaru, Fujio Fujita, Yoshikazu Ichikawa, Hideki Namba, Motohide Kokunishi, Michio Hirano, Kaoru Kozuma, Toshio Hirosawa, Tutomu Itoh, Atsushi Ueoka, Shigeru Sasaki, Kazuyuki Nakamura

Patent number: 4812967Abstract: At an occurrence of an interrupt, each entry of the vector table of the vitrual machine monitor to be referenced by the hardware of the bare machine is loaded with an address of an interrupt processing program of the running virtual machine for an interrupt number associated with the entry. When the interrupt is allowed to be directly processed by the virtual machine, the virtual machine monitor is not activated, that is, the interrupt processing program of the vitual machine can immediately execute the necessary processing, which eliminates the overhead associated with the intervention of the virtual machine monitor. Moreover, the content of the system stack pointer is set to point to the stack of the running virtual machine. Consequently, the content of the registers to be saved for an interrupt processing are directly stored in the stack of the running virtual machine, and therefore the overhead caused because the stack of the virtual machine monitor is used is removed.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1986Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Hirosawa, Jun'ichi Kurihara, Shigemi Okumura

Patent number: 4809163Abstract: A computer system as a processor which operates under control of an operating system stored in memory to execute programs in response to commands received from operator terminals. Power is supplied to the processor from a power control circuit, and a terminal status-monitoring circuit operating under its own power supply monitors the operational status of the operator terminals and causes power to be supplied to the processor from the power control circuit when any one of the operator terminals has been turned on. When all of the operator terminals have been turned off, a command is sent to the processor from the power control circuit to initiate termination processing after which power supply is removed from the processor.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1987Date of Patent: February 28, 1989Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Hirosawa, Masaru Ohki, Yutaka Kuwahara

Patent number: 4748443Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating data for a skeleton pattern of a character and/or a painted character pattern are provided. A dot matrix pattern representative of a character pattern is stored in a memory and it is displayed on a display device, positions of a plurality of skeleton points for defining a skeleton line position of each of line segments on the displayed dot matrix pattern are specified on the display screen. Kinds of basic elements for the respective line segments are entered by an operator. Lines connecting the skeleton points of the respective line segments are superimposed on the dot matrix pattern as skeleton lines and they are displayed in a distinguishable form. A character outline pattern corresponding to the skeleton lines or a painted pattern thereof is generated based on the input skeleton point positions and the kinds of line segments.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1985Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Tetsuzou Uehara, Tutomu Itoh, Motohide Kokunishi, Toshio Hirosawa

Patent number: 4748558Abstract: A loosely coupled multi-processor system including a plurality of terminals and corresponding processors. When a particular terminal tries to start a program, the corresponding processor sets the largest number of the terminals, which are serviceable, on the basis of the load status of the processors which are permanently watched by the OS (operating system) in a main memory. The processor compares this largest number with the number of terminals, which are in service at that time and when the number of the terminals, which are in service, is smaller than the largest number, processing by the terminal issuing a service demand begins. Alternatively, when the number of the terminals, which are in service, is equal to or greater than the largest number, the processor cannot treat the service demand from the terminal and reports this to a global processor.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1986Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Hirosawa, Kazumitu Kondo, Katsuto Miyazaki, Kenji Fujikata
