Abstract: The interactive character font pattern creation, editing and composition control device comprises transforming a printed font into a dot string data of "0", "1" on a drum scanner or the like, expanding the dot string data of font patterns loaded in a font pattern file to a storage to displaying on a display terminal. When a terminal user executes commands for noise deletion, automatic centering, translation, rotation, scaling/zooming, and creation of a revised font pattern through composing a plurality of font patterns to the font pattern given on a display screen, the device applies an operation according to the commands with an original font pattern expanded in the storage as input, loads it then in a storage for storing a current font pattern and displays the current font pattern on the display screen of the terminal.

Abstract: Phrases in an input character string are registered in a table (phrase table), frequencies of occurrence of those phrases are counted and registered in the table, the phrases having high frequencies of occurrence are selected and macro codes therefor are determined, and those macro codes and the corresponding phrases are paired and registered in the macro table. A content of the macro table thus prepared may be displayed on a display screen. Thereafter, a user can enter a desired phrase by keying the corresponding macro code.

Abstract: An argument which is a set consisting a global variable in a procedure to be called, a designation symbol representing localization and a variable or constant on a procedure call side is designated as an argument of a procedure call statement of a program, the global variable in the called procedure is localized in the procedure in response to the designated information, and the value of the variable on the procedure call side which is a member of the set is used as the initial value of the local variable.An argument which is a set consisting of a local variable in a procedure to be called, a designation symbol representing globalization and a variable on a procedure call side is designated as an argument of a procedure call statement of a call program, the local variable in the called procedure is globalized in response to the designation information, and a data area which is the same as that of the variable on the procedure call side, which is a member of the set, is used.

Abstract: A computer system network with host machines and local machines linked hierachically with each other, wherein if file I/O status flag in control table of a local machine is set to terminal operation replacement mode by command input by terminal user, a data I/O request issued by an application program in a host machine to a terminal connected to the local machine is implemented by the I/O operation on the file connected to the local machine in place of the I/O operation on the terminal.

Abstract: A terminal controller for allowing concurrent operations of a plurality of application programs, each said application program using an input/output data stream including an address information for enabling to display data on the overall screen of a terminal enables the outputs from application programs which operate concurrently to be displayed on the split screen of a single terminal linked with said terminal controller. An address conversion is carried out in the terminal controller on at least a portion of the address information in an input data stream input from a terminal and on at least a portion of the address information in an output data stream output from an application program.

Abstract: A gathering system in an electronic computer including detecting means for detecting the occurrences of each of a plurality of events, a counter group having a plurality of counters each of which counts the number of occurrences of corresponding event until the number thereof becomes 2.sup.l, a storage having a plurality of memory areas, each storing 2.sup.K.multidot.l occurrences of the corresponding event and a processing unit for gathering data representative of the number of occurrences of each of the events from the counter and the storage unit.
