Patent number: 5410116Abstract: A gas isolated disconnecting switch is provided which performs a sufficient restriking surge suppressing function, induces no adverse effect on the operation of a circuit breaker disposed within the system and always enables the circuit breaker to surely interrupt a fault current. Under the closed condition of the gas isolated disconnecting switch, a main stationary member 6 engages with a main movable member 16 and an auxiliary movable member 17 with an auxiliary stationary member 8 respectively. Accordingly the portion of an auxiliary conductor 7 which passes through a cylindrical magnetic body 9 is short-circuited via the main stationary member 6 and the main movable member 16, and no influence is induced on the operation of the circuit breaker disposed in the system. During the opening operation of the disconnecting switch, the auxiliary movable member 17 disengages with a time delay.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1992Date of Patent: April 25, 1995Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Jun Ozawa, Toshio Ishikawa, Yukio Kurosawa

Patent number: 5355633Abstract: A method of grinding plural journal portions of a workpiece with plural grinding wheels. In the method, a pair of work rests are used to support two selected journal portions, and the selected two journal portions have a larger initial diameter as compared with the rest of the journal portions. Initially, the selected journal portions are ground without using the work rests. When the diameter of the selected journal portions becomes substantially equal to the diameters of the rest of the journal portions, the work rests are advanced to support the selected journal portions. After that, the grinding wheels are again advanced to grind all the journal portions.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1992Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Toyoda Koki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshio Ishikawa, Masahiko Yokoi, Shozo Kobayashi, Hisashi Kubota, Yoshiki Kawachi

Patent number: 5325344Abstract: A magneto-optical recording/reproducing device which records information by irradiating a light beam of constant intensity on a magneto-optical recording medium while simultaneously applying a magnetic field thereon through a recording magnetic head; and which reproduces the recorded information through a reproducing magnetic head. The magneto-optical recording medium has a magnetic film formed on a translucent substrate and the magnetic field applied through the recording magnetic head reverses in response to the information to be recorded. Patent number: 5256976Abstract: A power apparatus has a network formed by a plurality of interconnected components being, e.g., one or more high voltage conductors in a casing of a metal filled with an insulating gas. Detectors are provided which detect electromagnetic waves, which are generated if there is a fault. The electromagnetic waves are analyzed to detect the location of the fault. The analysis may make use of attenuation coefficients corresponding to each component of the network to extrapolate between detectors on either side of the fault and/or to compare with predetermined wave strengths. A map of the network may be stored in a suitable memory to assist in the calculation of the fault location, and the memory may also store the attenuation coefficients themselves. The location of the fault may then be displayed by a suitable display, to give the time variation of the fault.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1991Date of Patent: October 26, 1993Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Ishikawa, Fumihiro Endo, Shuzo Iwaasa, Tomoaki Utsumi, Tokio Yamagiwa, Yoshinori Tagawa
