  • Patent number: 4522515
Abstract: A circumferential groove is provided in the inner periphery of a bearing housing so as to be opposed to a circumferential groove provided in the outer periphery off the raceway of an outer race. The elastic tie bar is fixed in the circumferential grooves opposed to each other, astriding both, and the bearing is mounted in the housing, its position fixed thereby. An opening is provided in part of the circumferential groove in the outer race to communicate with the bearing interior, and through this opening an end of the tie bar is revealed in the bearing interior.

  • Patent number: 4494495
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling valve timing in an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a pair of sleeves inserted into each other. One of the sleeves is connected to a camshaft of the engine. The other sleeve is connected to a timing pulley which is connected to the crankshaft of the engine. One of the sleeves has diametrically opposite slits while the other sleeve has diametrically opposite slits located adjacent to the respective slits in the one sleeve. The adjacent slits have central lines which are skewed with respect to each other. Roller-bearing units are arranged in the slits and are mounted on an axially slidable slider. Movement of the slider causes the generation of angular displacement between the sleeves so as to obtain a variable valve timing.

  • Patent number: 4208078
Abstract: A cylindrical roller bearing has inner and outer rings, cylindrical rollers, and a retainer having a pair of annular members positioned close to and disposed along the opposite ends of the cylindrical rollers provided in a circular arrangement within the annular space between the inner ring and the outer ring. The annular members of the retainer are provided with cantilever projections each positioned at a radially outward portion of each space between adjacent rollers in opposed relation to beam portions connecting the annular members with the projections extending between the peripheral end surfaces of the adjacent rollers for retaining the rollers in pockets formed by the annular members and the beam portions.

  • Patent number: 4191432
Abstract: An annular seal member secured to an outer ring is formed on its inner periphery with a highly flexible seal lip extending radially inwardly thereof along the side face of a peripheral stepped portion in the shoulder of the inner ring and spaced apart from the side face by a small clearance. The seal lip has an annular projection axially projecting from the inner side of its inner peripheral portion and lightly in contact with the side face of the stepped portion of the inner ring. The inner peripheral face of the seal lip and the peripheral bottom face of the stepped portion opposed to, and spaced apart by a small clearance from, the inner peripheral face are tapered axially inwardly of the inner ring. The tapered inner peripheral face of the seal lip is not greater than the tapered bottom face of the stepped portion in axial length. The bearing has improved dustproofness, leakproofness and rotation performance afforded by the seal assembly.

  • Patent number: 4023868
Abstract: A device comprising an outer ring formed with a cylindrical portion extending from its small diameter end at the radially inward portion thereof, a case having an inside surface including a large diameter cylindrical surface and a small diameter cylindrical surface to provide a stepped portion in the inside surface, the outer ring being received in the case in sliding contact with the large diameter cylindrical surface and the small diameter cylindrical surface, means for rendering the outer ring slidable only axially within the case, means for sealing the large diameter and small diameter sliding contact surfaces of the case and of the outer ring, and a pressure chamber defined by and provided between stepped portion end surfaces axially facing each other and formed between the large diameter and small diameter sliding contact surfaces of the case and of the outer ring to receive a pressure fluid.
