  • Publication number: 20130259754
Abstract: A catalytic converter is obtained that can suppress deterioration in insulating ability between electrode members that is caused by moisture within exhaust. Insulating layers are provided at peripheries of electrode rods that are for energizing a catalyst carrier, and the electrode rods are insulated from a case tube. The catalyst carrier is structured of a material whose temperature rises due to application of voltage. Temperatures of the insulating layers are raised by applying voltage from a power supply to the catalyst carrier.

  • Patent number: 8540940
Abstract: To obtain a catalytic converter device that can suppress a drop in the effect of heating a catalyst carrier caused by water droplets produced in an exhaust pipe. A holding mat that holds a catalyst carrier in a case cylinder is given a three-layer structure comprising an inside fiber layer, a solid layer, and an outside fiber layer. The solid layer projects toward an upstream side from an upstream-side end face of the catalyst carrier, and an interstice portion is configured between the projecting portion and the case cylinder. Water droplets adhering to the inner peripheral surface of the case cylinder do not reach the catalyst carrier because the projecting portion serves as a barrier.

  • Patent number: 8443595
Abstract: In a structure of an additive-agent diffusion plate in an exhaust passage, the exhaust passage is an exhaust passage for an engine. The additive-agent diffusion plate includes a plurality of collision portions; and a plurality of communication portions that allow exhaust gas flowing in the exhaust passage to flow from an area upstream of the additive-agent diffusion plate to an area downstream of the additive-agent diffusion plate in an exhaust-gas flow direction. The additive-agent diffusion plate diffuses an additive agent injected into the exhaust passage, at a position upstream of an exhaust gas purification device, which is disposed in the exhaust passage, in the exhaust-gas flow direction. Each of the collision portions protrudes toward an upstream side in the exhaust-gas flow direction, and a cross section of each of the collision portions increases from the upstream side toward a downstream side of the exhaust-gas flow direction.
