  • Patent number: 7403201
Abstract: A transmitting-side device (1) generates an image data by performing an image analysis toward the actually photographed two-dimensional image (100) and also generates depth information useful for converting the two-dimensional image into a stereoscopic vision-use image. Furthermore, the transmitting-side device generates additional subordinate information such as scale information, function specifying information, table specifying information, and the like, and transmits such the information to a receiving-side device (2). The receiving-side device (2) receives the image data, the depth information, and the additional subordinate information, generates a parallax image on the basis of such the information, and allows an observer to perform stereoscopic vision.

  • Patent number: 7391444
Abstract: In an image pickup apparatus, timer 2 starts a time measuring operation when a shutter button is pressed. When a time T1 is measured by timer 2, the image from CCD 1 is output as a background image to a background image buffer 4. In addition, when a time (T1+T2) is measured by timer 2, the image from CCD 1 is output as a normal image to a region extracting portion 5 and image compressing portion 6. The background image mainly refers to an image only including a background. The normal image mainly refers to an image with an object of interest arranged in front of the background.

  • Patent number: 7389038
Abstract: A multimedia information recording device is used for efficiently recording multimedia information (100) file storage area (111) on a recording medium (110). From the multimedia information given to the device, a data body DB and control information (HD and FD) are created and given to a file storage area writing section (106) where the data is written in parallel at a time on a free cluster in the file storage area. In the free area of each cluster where the data is written, dummy data is packed by a dummy data adding section (107) to absorb the difference between the first position of a cluster and the first position of the data in the cluster. Thus, data rewriting to eliminate this difference is avoided. Information for connecting plural clusters where data is written is created by a multimedia information file creating section (108), and the multimedia information is recorded in a multimedia information file on the recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20080106550
Abstract: A controller 103, based on the positional information of the display image, selects whether the 3-dimensional image data decoded by a decoder 102 is displayed stereoscopically (in 3-dimensional display mode) or planarly (in 2-dimensional display mode) and gives notice of the selected display mode to a display portion 104. Specifically, the input positional information=display address is monitored, and if no temporal change occurs, namely if the displayed position of the image data does not change, 3-dimensional display mode is selected as the display mode. On the other hand, if there is a temporal change, namely if the displayed position of the image data varies by scrolling, 2-dimensional display mode is selected as the display mode. Thus, an image data display apparatus which can efficiently display image data on a display when display of 3-dimensional image data is scrolled is provided.

  • Publication number: 20080103692
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system detects a new road that is not recorded in a map for updating map data during a travel. After exiting from the new road, the increase of the data size of road map data at a time of addition of the new road to the map is estimated, and a collection of the data is transmitted to a server together with positional information and a travel frequency of the new road as a bundle of records of the new roads for facilitating a determination whether a combination of new roads from an updated road map database fits in a storage medium for the sake of user distribution.

  • Publication number: 20070171277
Abstract: A controller (101) designates the method of integrating viewpoint images. An image integrator (102) creates an integrated image by placing individual viewpoint images in appropriate positions. A 3D image control information creator (103) creates 3D image control information by formatting the placement mode of individual viewpoint images and various 3-dimensional image characteristics. An encoder (104) encodes integrated image data. A multiplexer (105) multiplexes the coded data and the 3D image control information and outputs them. A filename deciding unit (106) decides the name of a file when multiplexed data is recorded as a file. A storage directory deciding unit (107) decides the directory in which a file to be recorded is stored. A file creator (108) records a file with the decided filename under the decided storage directory. Thus, the distinction between 3-dimensional display image data and 2-dimensional image data can be clarified.

  • Publication number: 20060192776
Abstract: An image signal composed of sequential frames is input to a 3-dimensional image creating apparatus, frame by frame. A controller (102) designates the presence/absence of reduction, the presence/absence of joining and 2D select. An image converter (101) creates image data in the format designated by the presence/absence of reduction and the presence/absence of joining. A 3D information creator (103) creates 3D information necessary for displaying the image as a 3-dimensional image by formatting the presence/absence of reduction, the presence/absence of joining and 2D select. A multiplexer (104) converts image data and 3D information in a predetermined format and outputs them to the outside. In this way, it is possible to make the image data for 3-dimensional display versatile and select an arbitrary viewpoint image efficiently.

  • Patent number: 7098939
Abstract: A retention memory retains 2D image data picked-up and output by camera portion in association with corresponding thumbnail image data. The 2D image data retained in the retention memory is converted to 3D image data formed of image data for left-eye and for right-eye for stereoscopic vision of the image as desired. A retention portion creates thumbnail image data with a shrunken image based on this 3D image data and stores the created thumbnail image data and the 3D image data in the retention memory in association with each other. The thumbnail image data is created, for example, by reducing the left-eye image data and the right-eye image data of the 3D image data to satisfy a thumbnail size. A listing of thumbnails based on the thumbnail image data in retention memory is displayed on a display portion so that the retained image can be recognized at a glance.

  • Publication number: 20060126919
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a 3-D image display unit that can be controlled flexibly to protect the user from eyestrain and operated easily. The 3-D image display unit includes measuring means for measuring a display time of a 3-D image, parallax adjusting means for instructing 3-D image forming means to adjust the parallax of the 3-D image. In the case where the 3-D image display time measured by the measuring means exceeds a predetermined time, the parallax adjusting means instructs the 3-D image forming means to reduce the parallax of the 3-D image to be formed, thereby the display means comes to display a 3-D image having a small parallax. The user can thus be protected from eyestrain.
