Abstract: A solid catalyst for polymerization of olefins prepared by treatment of a titanium trichloride composition with a mixture of (1) a halogen, an interhalogen compound or a halogenated hydrocarbon compound, and (2) an ether which, in combination with organoaluminum compounds as activators, can be used to polymerize olefins for the efficient production of highly crystalline olefin polymers.

Abstract: A solid catalyst for olefin polymerization which is obtained by the catalytic treatment of a titanium trichloride composition with a mixture of a halogenated hydrocarbon and an ether, the composition being produced by subjecting a solid reduction product, which is obtained by reduction of titanium tetrachloride with an organo-aluminum compound, to heat treatment or to catalytic treatment with a specific organo-aluminum compound, aluminum halide, an ether and the like. In the polymerization of an olefin, combined catalyst systems of this solid catalyst and organo-aluminum compounds as activators can be used for efficient production of olefin polymers having a high crystallinity.

Abstract: A zigzag sewing machine wherein, when a pattern selecting means is manually operated for selecting a desired stitch pattern, at least one of an amplitude regulator and a feed regulator is automatically set, in accordance with the manual operation of said selecting means, to a certain suitable condition which is previously designed to form a master stitch pattern for each pattern to be selected, and wherein at least one of manually operable knobs which are operatively connected with the two regulators, respectively, is not only automatically set at the same time with the regulator setting, indicating the set condition thereof, but also adjustable to change the set condition within a certain range for forming a modified stitch pattern similar to the master pattern.

Abstract: A new antibiotic substance, designated Y-G19ZD3, is produced by the fermentation of a newly discovered microorganism Streptomyces organonensis Y-G19Z or a mutant thereof. The antibiotic substance Y-G19ZD3 is effective against gram negative bacteria and is useful also as an intermediate for the production of other antibiotics.
