  • Publication number: 20080117729
Abstract: A driving voltage of a laser diode provided in an optical disc apparatus is properly set based on an operating environment thereof to reduce unnecessary power consumption and heat generation. A temperature detector detects the temperature inside a pickup. A memory stores a value of the voltage to be supplied to a laser driver, the voltage corresponding to each of various operating environments. A controller refers to voltage values stored in the memory to set the voltage to be supplied to the laser driver based on a current operating environment. Operating environment parameters includes at least one of the temperature, operation mode, recording rate, and accumulated light emission time. The voltage value to be stored in the memory is a value of the voltage at which electric power consumed by the laser driver becomes smallest in the operating environment.

  • Patent number: 6008773
Abstract: The reflector-provided dipole-antenna shows outstanding performance in a wide frequency range and allows simultaneous transmission and reception at different frequencies. A dipole antenna element is provided at the back of a dielectric substrate set to the reflector surface. A parasitic element is provided on the front of the dielectric substrate, which is constituted by forming and protruding the central portion of a linear conductor forward in an almost trapezoidal shape, for example. The protruded portion is set to a position corresponding to the front of the feed point of the dipole antenna element and the portions of the said parasitic element towards the ends are set to positions corresponding to the rear of the dipole antenna element. A feed circuit provided on the face side of dielectric substrate is connected to a coaxial connector provided at the back of the reflector.

  • Patent number: 5351225
Abstract: In an optical recording and reproducing apparatus which forms at least first and second light spots on a track of an optical recording medium to record, reproduce or erase information, a movable range of the second light spot is limited to less than one half of a track pitch, normal to the track, from the track to prevent tracks other than a target track from being miserased, misrecorded or misreproduced. When a deviation of the second light spot from the target track exceeds a predetermined amount, light emission of the second light spot is stopped to prevent a track other than the target track from being miserased, misrecorded or misreproduced. When the deviation of the second light spot from the target track exceeds the predetermined amount, the second light spot is returned to a neutral position to prevent a track other than the target track from being miserased, misrecorded or misreproduced.
