  • Publication number: 20050058139
Abstract: An optical network unit and an optical line terminal which efficiently control the data receiving and dechurning processes in a passive optical network. In a churning parameter memory subsystem, a first memory bank stores churning parameters that are currently used, while a second memory bank stores updates made to the churning parameters. Under the control of the churning parameter memory subsystem, those first and second memory banks change their roles with each other at a churning key updating time point. A data dechurning unit receives a data stream consisting of a plurality of frames and dechurns the information contained in the data stream, according to the stored churning parameters. When an update is done to the parameters in a certain frame, the data dechurning unit makes the update effective at the next frame, thus starting data dechurning operations from the next frame.

  • Publication number: 20050001444
Abstract: an opening-closing device includes a driving source, an opening-closing mechanism for opening and closing an opening-closing member provided at a vehicle body by operation of the driving source, and a clutch positioned between the driving source and the opening-closing mechanism and sifting an energization state can transmit a driving force of the driving source to the opening-closing mechanism and a non-energization state can not transmit the drive force. The clutch includes a drive portion and a driven portion. The drive portion and the driven portion contact each other by a first load which can transmit the driving force from the driving source to the opening-closing mechanism when the clutch is the energization state. The drive portion and the driven portion contact each other by a second load which can not transmits the driving force from the driving source to opening-closing mechanism when the clutch is the non-energization state.

  • Publication number: 20040248132
Abstract: The inventors discovered for the first time the nucleotide sequence of the human DR5 gene promoter, the nucleotide sequence of the human Siah-1 gene promoter and what appear to be the core promoter regions thereof. The present invention further provides a screening method for substances which regulate promoter activity, comprising a step of bringing a test substance into contact with cells holding a vector which comprises this DNA together with a reporter gene ligated expressibly to this DNA, and a step of detecting changes in the expressed amount of the reporter gene due to contact with the test substance. This screening method is a method of very efficiently selecting anti-cancer drugs and the like.

  • Publication number: 20040154456
Abstract: A scribing head 1 of this invention raises and lowers a scribing cutter by rotation of a servomotor 3. As a scribe pressure, a rotational torque of the servomotor 3 is transmitted to the scribing cutter. To form a scribe line across another scribe line which is formed earlier, the scribe pressure is raised temporarily when the scribing head passes the scribe line which is formed earlier. The rotational torque of the servomotor 3 is controlled at any of preset limits while the position of a cutter 6 of the scribing head shifts on the brittle substrate. The servomotor 3 is driven under position-control mode.

  • Patent number: 6728248
Abstract: An optical line terminal which sends and receives messages or data to/from optical network units (ONUs) connected thereto. A cyclic message monitor produces a trigger signal, for use in a PLOAM grant generator, at certain intervals in harmonization with upstream messages that a specific optical network unit regularly transmits. A downstream message monitor watches outgoing downstream messages to detect a certain message requesting an ONU to return a response, and it triggers the PLOAM grant generator if such a message is detected. An upstream message monitor detects an upstream message whose identification code indicates that the sending ONU has no information to return. If such an upstream message is found, it limits the issuance of PLOAM grants to that optical network unit. The PLOAM grant generator produces PLOAM grants which permit ONUs to transmit their messages, and sends them out through a PLOAM cell transmitter.

  • Publication number: 20040027934
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved disc changer adapted to exactly detect whether a magazine storing a plurality of discs has been attached in the disc changer. When a magazine storing a plurality of discs is inserted into the disc changer, a detection arm and a lock arm both serving as moving members are moved by such an insertion. The lock arm, by virtue of the movement of itself, engages into an insertion groove provided on the backside of the inserted magazine and locks the magazine on the disc changer. The detection arm, by virtue of the movement of itself, actuates a lock detection switch. Here, since the detection arm and the lock arm are both urged by an urging spring, it becomes possible to exactly detect the attachment of the magazine by allowing the moving members locking the magazine on the disc changer to actuate the lock detection switch.

  • Publication number: 20040027933
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved disc changer allowing correct attachment of a magazine into a magazine holder. In the disc changer of the invention, a plurality of restriction members are provided in the magazine holder which receives a magazine for arranging and storing a plurality of discs, located on the magazine holder's one surface facing the upper surface of the magazine received therein. Therefore, these restriction members can get into contact with the upper surface of the magazine being inserted into the magazine holder in an upwardly inclined state, thereby restricting the insertion direction of the magazine. In this way, the magazine with its insertion direction being restricted, can be attached into the magazine holder in a correct manner, without bringing about any undesired effect caused by both the drawing means and the disc storing position within the magazine on the positioning or the like in the disc arranging direction.

  • Patent number: 6647210
Abstract: A delay adjustment unit and optical network unit which efficiently adjust the delay time of upstream data to improve the quality of data transmission services. Upstream transmission data is segmented into small data blocks. A downstream receiver receives control information on which upstream data blocks are granted or not granted to the unit. It also received an equalization delay update request that commands the unit to update its current equalization delay parameter. When this equalization delay update request is received, a delay adjustment controller controls the delay of each data block, depending on whether the transmission of each subsequent data block is granted. An upstream transmitter then transmits the granted data blocks with the adjusted delay times.

  • Publication number: 20030128237
Abstract: A message object corresponding to an input voice signal moves upward as time passes, like a bubble, after the voice signal is input. Accordingly, the user can recognize the input data easily and intuitively. The user selects a desired recognized message object and drags and drops the message object to a desired destination object. In this way, the user can transmit a voice signal associated with the message object to the terminal corresponding to the destination object.

  • Publication number: 20020085583
Abstract: In a communication system comprising a network unit and a plurality of subscriber units connected to the network unit, the network unit generates a message in which validity of transmission grant information is set for the subscriber units, and suspends a transmission of polling information to allocate a transmission grant to the subscriber units by using the transmission grant information for a fixed time in consideration of a processing time of the subscriber units from a time when the message has been completely transmitted. Also, when a disconnection state of an inputted cell from the subscriber units is detected, the network unit may suspend an input disconnection detecting operation for a fixed time from a time when the message and the polling information have been completely transmitted. Furthermore, a switchover of an input disconnection detection/transmission grant information may be suspended by mutually exchanging messages.
