    Abstract: A shapeable, fireproof, elastic packing material suitable for packing joints and the like in the form of a paste or shaped structure which is elastic at low temperature and is capable of swelling at high temperature, e.g. in a fire, to form a solid gas impenetrable barrier. The elastic packing material contains an elastomer, a vulcanizing agent and an intumescent mineral.
